ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

There seemed to be some anger emerging from them that people were laughing at the moron (and I don't use that phrase lightly) who tried to climb a lampost and was then swinging on it. It goes without saying but I hope he's not dead (or indeed badly injured though hard to see how he avoids it).

However I have to say, my sympathy wears thin. On the day the CMO tells the country to not ignore lockdown rules, on a day where over 100 people die again, he decides to don a mankini and what look like wellington boots to climb a lampost to impress a gathering crowd. The reality is, his irresponsible actions will have likely caused an overstretched ambulance, to have to be called to take him to an over stretched hospital, to be dealt with by exhausted doctors and nurses. That is where the sympathy should lie. Not with the idiot who took undue and unecessary risks to his own safety and those around him.

A self imposed 7 day complete media block out is now underway.
Did they deserve to win it? Probably. However, VAR has given them
at least 12 points this season and that is being realistic. So they are no
way near as good as the media are making them out to be.
Get ready for 'the best team the Premier League has ever seen' nonsense as
it will be in full flow and coming your way very soon. I didn't even bother watching
the game last night as I knew what was about to unfold. However, I am reliably
informed that the BT commentary team mentioned Liverpool 15 times in the first
half alone last night. What's all that about? At last it's finally done. The most hollow,
tainted and corrupt title win in the history of the game. If they had to win one then I'm
glad this is it. The sun will rise and set and the earth will continue to spin on it's axis.
However, what this pandemic and crisis has shown up, is just how manipulated
and rotten professional football has become. As I say, I didn't even watch the game
last night and only found out when I switched my phone on this morning. My
overwhelming feeling is that I am done with football. It has shown itself in it's
true light. This season It has been exposed as nothing but a money grabbing
business, riddled with self and vested interests. Even before the pandemic
it showed all its desperation to manipulate results to achieve a desired outcome
with the use of VAR and match officials. Liverpool or United HAD to win the title.
The Premier League / SKY business model had mandated it. The end justified
the means. There is just to much money in it for it not to happen. Well at lest we know
for sure now. We had suspected it for a long time. But now there is no hiding it (not as
if they actually tried to hide it). Hopefully, over the coming weeks and months I will
regain my enthusiasm and passion for football. It has been a major part of my life
and given me some of the worst and happiest days of my life down the years. But,
I'm not convinced I will. The genie is out of the bottle. The manipulation and blatant
corruption is now totally transparent. The next stop for the PL is for United to go
on and win it. Just how good would that be for the business model? Well it would
absolutely perfect. In that case, watch this space...
My thoughts exactly

MAYBE if you'd have had police lining Anfield last night, incase of this happening, this wouldn't have happened.

"condemning it" - That's going to stop their fans rocking up for lifting the trophy isn't it?

It's absolutely pathetic from the police. Fine urge them, but what are you going to do if they break the law? Or are 60k people dead already, with more dying each week not sufficient motivation to tackle the sort of selfish idiots we have in society who are causing this mayhem?

I saw the other day they just turned a blind eye to an illegal rave in Moss side. I can't get my head around it.

No Sympathy. Do hope he's not dead mind!

He took the risk, he knows the consequences. If i want to be an idiot and climb a lamppost, to get a few laughs, then I only have myself to blame if it goes wrong.

Not even cause it's a Liverpool fan, more cause it's a bloody stupid thing to do.

EDIT: Apologies if caused issue! Apparently in a bad way.

Mate, it would have happened somewhere else - look at town near St. Luke's. The response has to be measured to the threat and the resources available.

While I suspect we'd all have liked a much firmer response, if we're to be realistic it wasn't going to materialise for a multitude of reasons - political and logistical.

They've had their moment and from now on the response will be firmer.

"In the days ahead, we urge supporters to do the right thing and celebrate safely with members of your household and in your social bubble. By doing this you keep yourself, your family, friends and neighbours safe.”

The north-west has been one of the worst-hit regions by coronavirus, with Liverpool’s death rate well over the average across England and the R rate believed to be around 1.

"As we all know, Merseyside has been disproportionately affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and we must all do what we can to prevent further cases and deaths in our communities,” Assistant Chief Constable Carden added.

"We understand people will feel jubilant that Liverpool has secured the league title for the first time in 30 years, and the time will come when fans can return to Anfield to applaud the team and to celebrate their achievement.
The onus is now on them (the RS) to behave and consider their responsibility for the wider population.

How are our statues and the tower? Have the orcs attacked them yet?

I'll just provide some context for this too, yes you are correct, but (particularly the tower) is a site of cultural heritage for the entire city (a bit like the Liver Birds). I'd be appalled if we won a trophy and we tried to vandalise the Liverbirds, as you don't desecrate your own city.

Thats it. I can't believe the sympathy for him I'm seeing. He did an extremely dangerous and stupid thing, in a comedy outfit with no regard for his safety and those around him. I hope he isn't dead, but maybe he ought to have given some thought to his own safety and those around him, and also the time he's wasted for essential services who are already stretched to breaking point. No doubt he's one of those who will also clap for the NHS, but gives no thought to his own behaviour.

Congratulations to the RS on winning the asterisk cup but I can't help but think of Mel Brooks in 'To Be or Not to Be':

[Frederick returns home, having succesfully impersonated Siletski at Gestapo headquarters]

Frederick Bronski : I did it! I did it! I gave the greatest performance of my life...

[sinks into a chair and peels off his fake beard]

Frederick Bronski : And nobody saw it........
