its no coincidence that we have never had a striker who consistently netted goals over a period of time, we simply don't have that played to unlock a defence, Barkley has the potential to be a quality CAM/no10 but he hasn't it in him atm, you look at all the top sides who they have/have who played that sort of role;

Arsenal- Ozil/Cazorla
City- Silva/Nasri
Spurs Eriksen/Van Der Vaart*/Modric*
Utd- Rooney/Mata
Chelsea- Oscar/Hazard/Mata*
RS- Suarez/Coutinho

if we had that sort of player with lukaku ahead of him we would be good for top 4, sadly we don't have that player, De Bruyne would of been great had we had the cash.
