ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

check out St Stevie's over emotional reaction to the win over man city followed by his attention whoring and drama queen like antics in his "impromptu" on pitch huddle where he made loud and expletive littered demands of "LISTEN TO MEEEE, LISTEN TO MEEEE"

all for the cameras of course (although they'd no doubt been tipped off earlier), showing what a true leader is, and how the spirit of his club runs through his body like his red blood

yeah right

check out Vincent Kompany leaving the pitch with a steely determined look in his eyes, keeping his emotions in check and knowing it ain't over, cool calm and collected, even in defeat

two premier league captain's, one crying his eyes out, the other walking off thinking about nothing but the next game, I know who I'd rather have on my team

you shot your bolt too early Stevie lad, you let it slip

ha nob-ed

The best thing about all this, is the fact that it really did look like they were nailed on for the title a few weeks ago. They were 1/6 ffs. It had that horrid Istanbul inevitable feel to it. Then you seen them celebrating v City, and they 'knew' they'd won it. Gerrard crying, for some reason he said because of Hillsbrough, although he has never done that before, but far be it from me to be cynical, of course LFC would never use something like that to make themselves look good, like wear an armband, would they Brendan?

That game will go down in folklore v Chelsea. That slip. That rant from Rodgers who had realised he was in an amazing position, let his massive ego get in the way of logic, and contrived to lose a game they only needed to draw against an under strength side with one eye on a massive CL semi final. Those 'super fans' singing outside Chelsea's hotel 'We are gonna win the league.' The firm of whoppers.

Then came Palace, and the beautiful capitulation. We all enjoyed that one. What has struck me about this season, is that they have won games they shouldn't have. Next season they won't. I honestly believe they will be fighting for fourth at best next season, this season they had no extra games, and surely you can't get 12 pens again. Well they might like, but they won't get that close to winning a title again.

1/6 they were lads, 1/6.

Thank you God.

The Kopites used to say: "Here we go gathering cups in May".

Maybe someone should remind them you get [Poor language removed] all for being at the top in April.

They made a holy show of themselves. Guards of honour for a team after 30 games. Oh dear.

Crooks

To think that a mere slip against Chelsea should rob Steven Gerrard - arguably the best player of his generation - of lifting the Premier League title seems outrageously unfair. He may not have enjoyed the dream finish to the season that Liverpool fans so desperately wanted, but he could not have given any more to the cause.

His sheer professionalism and dignified approach to the game makes him the perfect choice to lead England in the World Cup.

No way is Gerrard's mind going to be in it after that, he looks like he's about to have a mental breakdown.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard: "I thought my days of title races had gone but having played with this group of players this year the dream is back. Although I've only got a couple of years left I still believe I can get there. I never give up fighting.

"I'm really confident and believe that the title is not too far away. I'm devastated for the fans. Although we've made them dream I'm devastated we didn't go that one step more."

all you need to know about gerrard - football's a team sport.

I am the one who slipped on my arse and messed up the whole thing.
