Liverpool dont play in a way that you can rotate. Aspas Borini barely given a game this year. They don't have a system like us or Arsenal or United under Ferguson. Theirentire game isbased around Gerrard releasing quick ball, Sturridge and Sterling flying up to stretch the defense leavung Suarez loads of room. Henderson then chases if someone messes up. If Gerrard or Suarez is missing then you see the defend and hope for 1-0 ploy. It's a decent proven premier league player which will allow them to rotate their strikers for prem / CL games.
Who plays a completely different style to their normal game, under a manager who is notorious for having no Plan B.
He's also 32 years old. Is an average of 14 goals a season over 2 seasons 'proven'?
I can genuinely say that if we'd signed Lambert for the reported fee, I'd be very disappointed.
I am sure that they can have a plan B if they need to implement one.
They cannot keep playing the way they played all last season, they will be found out as they were against Chelsea and Palace.
I am sure Rodgers is intelligent enough to know that.
You know when people say 'Ricky Lambert is a proven scorer in the Prem'....
He's 32 years old. The first 14 years of his career he was playing in the lower leagues. He's played 2 seasons in the Premier League, scoring a total of 28 goals. 15 goals in 2012/13, 13 goals last season. He's not exactly Dixie Dean is he?
He's been decent in the Premier League, but 'proven'? Two seasons? I keep going back to the Kone comparison - he scored 13 goals in his first season in the Prem. He got injured early on and missed pretty much the whole of his 2nd season. Who's to say if he'd stayed fit, he'd have scored a similar number of goals again in his second season?
Liverpool nearly won the league last season. Would the likes of Chelsea have signed Lambert? Arsenal? Even Man Utd? Or would they have aimed higher? Bear all this in mind when LFC fans rave about Lambert.
A weird signing, given what Liverpool already have in attack, and where their glaring deficiencies lie (DEFENCE!!!!).
