ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Liverpool dont play in a way that you can rotate. Aspas Borini barely given a game this year. They don't have a system like us or Arsenal or United under Ferguson. Theirentire game isbased around Gerrard releasing quick ball, Sturridge and Sterling flying up to stretch the defense leavung Suarez loads of room. Henderson then chases if someone messes up. If Gerrard or Suarez is missing then you see the defend and hope for 1-0 ploy.

You can't just replace Suarez for Lambert. At Arsenal or City they put chances on a plate for Giroud and Dzeko. You could rotate them with Lambert but not Suarez, they would have to change their whole way of playing.
I think this is spot on. It looks for all the world like a cliched move by a team who believe that just by adding a big target man for the occasions when stubborn defences can't be budged by a slicker game plan it will solve their problems.

I can only think Lambert will be LC/FA Cup fodder.

I see todays Echo ups the ante cringe-wise with Pearl Drops on Lambert.

However, before the Reds faced Saints at Anfield last September the Northern Irishman paid a warm tribute to the striker, who had recently scored on his England debut against Scotland.
“I think Rickie is a terrific player,” said Rodgers.
“I sent him a fax when he made his England debut as I know he is a big Red. I sent it on behalf of the club and all Kopites.
“He is a Kirkby boy and I was just wishing him well, saying we were all proud of him playing for England.

Think he forgot the ps...."sorry we released you and broke your heart when you were 15, but I wasn't there then so thats ok then, so it is"

Thought kopites weren't bothered about England? #scousenotenglish
Mind you, people in Surrey tend to support England more I guess

I get the feeling Liverpool are going to overplay this "we have CL football to offer" hand, chance their arm with bids under the valuation of targeted players, and miss out on them. And if you're FSG you'd also be saying to Brent straight away: 'get rid of the tat you brought in last summer and use that cash before you come to us for substantial backing'. They must have zero faith in his record so far. I honestly dont think the feller knows what he's doing in the transfer market.

No, now they're in the CL they can get the Best of the Best from anywhere on the planet, hence Lambert......

Lambert is another addition then for Gerrard in his Press Conferences...ostensibly arranged to talk about England as you would expect an England captain to do so. Instead of which, hes turned them into a serial eulogy of the RS contingent in the camp...how they play...the season they've had...the effect they've had on the Premier League zzzzzz. Luis Suarez's knee even got more airtime than the England Squad off him. However, the usual rider at the end....."Im not concerned about other players injuries though" (having discussed it at length)..."just that the England squad is fit." Must think everyone is thick....its on the same lines as his usual self promoting interviews for club when after three paras saying how well hes coped in his new role...he says its not about him, but about the team.

The best crop of young English players at Anfield for a generation....it's a shame he let them down and threw the title down the toilet on them.

Well in, Captain Fantastic.

His wiki page makes it all clear :

Penalty record
Since joining Southampton Lambert has built up a reputation as a specialist from 12 yards. He has converted his last 34 penalties and has not missed from the spot since moving to Southampton in 2009, a record that is rivaled by few in the footballing world.
