In all fairness, if our players were on opposing national sides and one of them was in difficulty, they'd deffo go and help their club mate.

I actually think this pic demonstrates the fact that players prefer their clubs - English players anyway.

I don't think a game of this magnitude is the place for it though. We don't need to advertise our inherent sportsmanship..and don't need to nursemaid the opposition when they've got a team of professionals to hand. Uruguay were seeking to take the tempo out of the game after we scored. I personally would have been disappointed to see the likes of Baines giving Mirallas a massage had we been playing Belgium....but maybe Im old school.

Sorry mate, disagree.

If he's gone for anything under £60m it's a travesty for Liverpool

I would be a very very happy bitter Blue if that happens after all the "well if Bale is worth 100m well so is Suarez". Tbh I'm not surprised if those clauses are true as well as I know at a Liverpool meeting my missus went to they were close to the figures that were mentioned ( though it was a reduced fee for different countries teams and not just Barca or Madrid ). Anyway last night proved why the RS had a food season. A half fit Suarez done what he does best which is get bang average sides a result whilst Gerrard looks totally lost. The man who supposedly sits deep to protect the back 4 obviously needed someone sitting even deeper to protect him. He can't run, can't tackle, can't read the game. Barry would have infinitely have been a better choice if that's the kind of role you want a player to play. Says something when Henderson shows him up.

Danny Mills:

Against Uruguay, it was almost the same. Johnson doesn't get tight enough to the cross and Suarez moves off Jagielka. The second goal was shocking, it was a flick-on from Gerrard, there was nothing he could do, but Baines, Jagielka and Cahill were all over the shop. There was no defensive shape or organisation at all.

This is absolute crap. It's like when a keeper misses a kick and it rolls over their foot and goes in, or any number of mistakes Bramble made in his heyday. It happens in football, but it doesn't mean it's not a mistake. I was angrier after the match about how consciously the media were ignoring Gerrard than I was with the result.

I thought it may have just been bias on my part, but I've since spoken to Leeds and Norwich fans who echoed my sentiments and then some. How Gerrard escapes absolute vilification in the media is beyond me (well it's not beyond me, it's just ridiculous).

Sat in a pub watching that game and made several loud comments about the crapness of the RS players. No one disagreed.
I knew England were done the minute Hodgson named that many of the Shoite in the lineup. Jesus Marimba, that team bottled the Premier League when it was all but gift-wrapped for them, how the hell did he think they'd do better on the globe's biggest stage?

I found an article in the guardian with someone saying what we all thing regards Gerrard

But even in that half decent article, the author still finds the space to write this crap.

England were loose again for the second goal, with Gerrard unfortunate to provide a mis-headed assist, although the real fault here lay in a slackness between full-backs and centre-halves

Nowt to do with Stevie, then.

Barcelona beat Real Madrid to £52m signing of Liverpool's Luis Suarez, claims Spanish press
  • Mundo Deportivo report Barcelona are close to agreeing £52m deal for Liverpool striker
  • Liverpool inserted a £68m release clause in Suarez's last contract
  • But this is £52m if Barcelona or Real Madrid show an interest
  • Deposed La Liga champions want to pair Suarez with Lionel Messi and Neymar
  • Also considered bids for Robin van Persie and Marco Reus

Barcelona are set to beat rivals Real Madrid to the £52m signing of Luis Suarez, according to Spanish paper El Mundo Deportivo.
The deposed La Liga champions plan to partner the Uruguayan striker with Lionel Messi and Neymar, with a deal reportedly close to completion.
The paper report that Liverpool inserted a release clause of £68m in Suarez's last contract, but this is reduced to £52m if Barcelona or Real Madrid express an interest

good luck with that since the there is no clause Luis and his agent have said this and the talk about one was that it was 100 million to anyone outside england and 125 million for any english club what ever happens he will be at liverpool this season after this season maybe also why are you believing a paper that is like marca is to real madrid barcelona's own mouth piece plus its not up front they need help its defense

There is no release clause.

Steven, Liverpool, 1 hour ago

It was Suarez himself has said there is no release clause. Seems some people are so desperate for him not to play for Liverpool that If you told them Santa was giving him to Madrid for Christmas they'd believe it was true.

Denial...

Well, we watched a half fit Suarez almost single handedly rip the piss out of England last night.

That puts Liverpool's season into perspective a bit. They had him bang in form and fit from September onward and still couldn't win a league against opposition playing another 15 games more than them. Can't wait to see what they do with big Lambo leading the line.
