ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

BBC: "Can you comment on the incident with Luis Suarez? Can you comment on what the world saw yesterday?"

Diego Lugano: "What incident? I don't know what incident you're talking about. I don't know what incident you're talking about. Are you talking about the Premier League or the national team? Have you got something against Luis?"

BBC: "Chiellini? Are you saying nothing happened?"

Lugano: "No. The pictures don't show anything. They show an approximation but nothing important."

BBC: "Why then has Fifa charged Luis Suarez?"

Lugano: "I don't know. As far as I know."

BBC: "Are British media to blame?"

Lugano: "No. Everybody knows the British media have an issue with Suarez. It must sell newspapers in England. Otherwise you wouldn't be here. Yesterday Uruguay played against Italy and Saturday it will play Colombia. I don't know what a British journalist is doing talking about Suarez. It must be popular with the British media. I don't see another explanation.

"But we're happy with yesterday's win. You don't look that happy with Uruguay's victory but, well, now comes the hardest part which is facing what I believe is the best team so far in the tournament. Colombia has scored a lot of goals and won easily."

It reads like a transcript of the Liverpool board room whenever someone may be held to account.
LFC:"don't know what incident you're talking about. they show an approximation but nothing important. have you got something against Luis?"

World: "Yes he bites headbutts and kicks people"

Lugano sounds like a Liverpool legend in the making...deny, deflect, whinge, deny, deflect, whinge. He'll be a hero for them.

We're bound to hate them, as well as the Mancs but what the end of last season showed is that no proper football fan wants them to win anything. Whether that's the way their fans behave, the media infestation trying to force feed everyone Liberpwel 24/7 or the way Ratboy has dragged their name through the gutter is anyone's guess. They seem to thrive now on being seen as whoppers of the highest order.

That was superb: the mantra from the Kopite hacks about 'everyone's second team' which was being rammed down people's throats was spat out right into their faces. Lesson learned for them hopefully.

When I think of Liverpool FC the first thing to spring to mind isn't football. I don't think I'd be alone in that.

What a disturbing organisation.

This is unfortunately true, getting past Heysel, Hillsborough, I was in bed, stolen tickets from their own fans and cannibalism......only then can you think about the shyster that is their manager.......

Fowler condemns Suarez and so does Thompson, trying to win the 'moral' high ground. They know he was off otherwise they would have protested against a lengthy ban and said he 'needs help'. Utter, frauds. Suarez's bite will not go down well in Yankland where there has been a concerted effort to promote football. Henry has done everything in his power to promote brand LFC and got many American moneybags on board to invest in LFC. The adverse publicity will damage LFC's standing.

One trophy they definitely win then - The Bell End of Season Title Holders (Holders 1965-2014 inclusive).

The hysteria that followed Hicks and Gillett..."look what damage they've done to our club...its not The Liverpool Way" will be the template for Suarez before long. "Look what damage hes done to our club". In reality, the real rotten common denominator to both is that the club hierarchy not only actually encouraged both...Moores flashing the club's scanties to the Yanks...the clubs sycophants like Dalglish, Rodgers making a martyr out of Suarez...but also set the tone for the sheep like fans to do the same. They saw their arse with the Yanks mark one...they will do the same with this new Suarez shameful episode.

Suarez's lawyer says it's a conspiracy. The Uruguyan FA say the pictures were photoshopped and there is no evidence. His teammates say nothing happened, and its a media concoction. His manager says likewise. The majority of Liverpool fans either believe biting is okay because there were no broken bones, or are delighted that he now will probably play more games than ever for them.

And we wonder why he keeps doing it.

Has his lawyer really said that?

Listening to the radio before France game it genuinely seems like nobody outside of uk media seems to see it as particularly serious - average response of overseas interviews seems to be that kicked out of wc with maybe a 3 match ban.

Basically see it as a violent conduct charge equating to a red card offence.

Horrible feeling this will be the sum of it, which is basically a one match ban as Colombia will dispose of Uruguay with or without Suarez.

Its obvious that many don't see him as a serial offender.

I suspect that some of what you say is underestimated since Brazilian tv has been repeating this since yesterday. Its also on French tv.

Russian tv too.

So his offences are being shown globally.
