ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I think they'll offer him the terms Suarez was on - mega money, even increasing on his Barca contract, and as good as Sanchez is I don't think there are many other clubs that would pay the fee and wages.

Not only that, I think Sanchez has been somewhat of a failure at Barcelona (worrying lack of consistency and end product a bit too often) and I think he'd welcome the step down as long as he's paid well to do so.

If not Liverpool, it'll be Arsenal, Juventus or PSG.
He wont want Liverpool for a variety of reasons...not the least of which would be stepping into the shoes of a very successful slotter.

He'll want a London CL club if he comes to England.

I'm genuinely intrigued to see what that divvy concocts out of the squad he'll have next season. Of course, he'll call it Plan A++ rather than a change to his 'principles'.

I'll give it till Christmas for it all to unravel and the first murmurings in the press to begin about Emperor Brendan's new clothes.

Controversial comment time

I actually don't think Rodgers is that rubbish a manager tactically

Out of the 20 managers in the Prem, he's probably top 10 and just below the top performers

His signings are sometimes questionable to say the least though

He will have a semi decent squad, but it was the rat that made the difference and he's finished whether he stays or goes. Chelsea will be there, City, Arsenal, Utd back, ourselves and Spurs. They'll be fighting for Europa League....

Lalalallalananallnnanannaanananaa is a decent player

They've overpaid for him, but he'll do well there

But I must agree with Pete, I fail to see them doing as well without Suarez

Sturridge will probably still bag a decent amount of goals next season though

I suppose I shouldn't be shocked at Barcelona wanting to be associated with this toerag but I must say a bit of Barcelona's mystique will die the day he steps out on Camp Nou.

Barca as a club always seemed a cut above the rest, they seemed to stand for sommat but as I say, to be shocked is a sign of naïveté.
Bit sad isn't it, their image was to develop youth from their academy whilst proudly wearing the Unicef logo on the front of their kit.

Now they are looking to buy Suarez and Unicef has been moved to the back to be replaced by a Qatar logo.

Probably just a function of modern day realities but a shame none the less.

Will be fascinating seeing how the Messi-Suarez relationship works out.

Without the rat they have less fluidity and are more one paced in possession. They'll become increasingly reliant on Me la's set piece delivery and his quarter back hoofs over the top to the quick lad.

Sturridge did great last season because of the attention given to Suarez, It will be interesting to see how he does with a different strike partner. I think Rodgers isn't the worst tactician or motivator but I don't think he's great in the market. They'd have to make some serious signings to challenge for the title next season and I just don't see that happening. They are well aware that Barca will stall any deal till the latest possible moment, I'd imagine they might even compromise on price to get the deal done earlier and buy themselves some time. It'll be an undisclosed fee, or possibly a January transfer.

Their key sources of goals last year were set pieces, Suarez brilliance, and counter attacks. How many times did you see them score a goal like Naismith's v Villa or Lukaku's numerous tap ins after exerted pressure and build up? Not loads. The loss of Suarez gets rid of one of those sources and diminishes the other two.

I hope Rodgers goes back to tiki taka because they were terrible at it. Least Martinez stuck to his guns. We'll be able to play anyone in our system. Rodgers bent over for Stevie I can only play one way Gerrard, and Suarez, but what happens when even one player gets injured? As we saw with Henderson's red, the apple cart topples over. Any injuries next season to key players and theyll be mid table.

Big Lambo yelling "on me 'ead, Stevie la', on me 'ead" will become a familiar cry at The Pit this coming season.

We saw what liverpool are without Suarez. It was England in the World Cup. It's toothless and clueless.

The echo will do their trick of swapping the currency signs. 70 mill€ will magically become 'a figure round about 75 million pounds', when in reality theyve handed over about 50 mill for him.
