ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

£80 million for him was the same sort of thinking that Kenwrong was using when he was trying to claim Rooney would only be sold for some unimaginable sum. £63 million for someone who has very little Champions League pedigree, and who has his disciplinary record, is an awful lot of money. As bluenosepaul says above, if they spend that on someone decent (though thats a big if) then they could be a lot better than last season.

Oh sure, its a few bob. But in the modern, (mad), football world, and considering his probable position of world strikers, his value without the bans/behaviour would be astronomical. If the reports are true, 75m euros is sub £60m. They have spent that already, pretty much. IF, the profit is given to Rogers, thats circa £35m. Bringing a total spend close to £100m.

And they will not get a player or players anywhere remotely close to what they have lost for £35m these days.

But hey, a great summer rolls on.

The bans/behaviour are who he is though - its like saying David Villa would be worth a lot more if he wasnt approaching his mid 30s and had a knee made up of wet papier mache; or Kone being worth a lot more if only he could play football.

Add to that his lack of record in the CL and you come to the conclusion that £63 million for him is overpriced; £63 million and Sanchez is utterly insane from the point of view of Barcelona.

The only explanation I can come up with is that Bartomeu must be looking to do some massive tax fiddle.

That changes things abit, not a bad deal after all

I would rather Rodgers had the cash in his hand to pee up the wall like a sailor on shore leave rather than have a ready made talent handed to him on a platter. I don't care how much money they get for the horror but would rather Sanchez jibbed then for Arsenal or elsewhere

Theres nothing anywhere on the BBC so i dont know why that lad is saying that.
Sanchez doesn't want to go there anyway. Prefers a move to Arsenal. It'll be straight up cash.

Spending £63m on Suarez then recouping about £25-28m on Sanchez.
