ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Rogers trying to buy Southampton smacks of Moyes efforts last year. The same ridicule befalling the equally egotistical bluffer is another reason to bring on the season.

What makes this currently potentially brilliant for us is if they fail. If they go out the champions league and struggle in the league then we can point out one thing

you came second in the league and proceeded to sign players from the team that finished 9th.

Lovren's been speaking out in the press, saying that 'his head's already in Liverpool' and has been openly slating Southampton. He seems like a right gobshite so he'll fit in perfectly over there.

I liked this:

"When I decided to go to Southampton, many people were surprised"

Deary me. I'd never even heard of the no mark until about Christmas last year.

As you say: he'll fit them like a glove.

Markovic (£25m) and Origi (£10m) signing next week for them. Hopefully end of their Sanchez hopes

Markovic is a good signing, but will they actually try and improve their defence or just keep buying attacking players? They can't have much more money to spend, it's been 60 or 70 million and we're only in July. And as we all know they're a very poor club with hardly any money.

It's like Spurs and their midfielder obsession all over again.

Their Summer transfer kitty was rumoured to be around about £60 million at the start of the Summer plus whatever they recoup from sales.

They also signeda new sponsorship deal last year with some airline to sponsor their training kit and other deals with the likes off Duncan Donuts and Vauxhall all of which total over £30 million a year for the next few years.. Added to that the extra tv revenue money and guaranteed CL money and the selling of Suarez probably have just over £140 million to spend..

Theyve spent about £40 million so far, so they have at least another £100 million to spend. Looks like £20 million on markovic and another £20 on Lovren still leaves them with £60 million.... Easily enough to sign a top left back and another top player, which hopefully wont be Sanchez or else they are looking very good for next season.

I'm trying to think, without the blue tinted specs, if we've had a potential signing say things like that ahead of a move to us. I really think it wouldn't sit right with me and would instantly put me against him. I'd be won over by strong performances and commitment to us over time, but he'd definitely be starting off on the wrong foot.

Thinking about it, did McCarthy or anyone else we've pursued over the last few years say something resembling that?
