Rodgers

“We’re in the Champions League, players want to come here and play and that’s great,” he said.
“It is easier to attract players but you’ve still got to do your work and convince players to come. The off-season wasn’t much of a holiday really! The scouting team, myself, the directors were flying all over Europe to get players in."

Says all the right things does Brenda, creep.

now that Suarez left, what will we laugh about now? maybe Rodgers next season

i think gerrards rapid decline will always be worth laughs.

especially as he's retired from internationals to improve his performance. looking forward to when rodgers drops him and says it was just a rest and cracks under the pressure and re-instates him for the next game, despite allen clearly being the better alternative

I have a feeling Rodgers will be next season's Moyes.

He won't fail anywhere near as badly as Moyes, but I think they might under-perform and he'll come in for some stick. Mainly just a hunch for now.

Code:
It's not just down to me if the money spent has gone straight down the toliet.

Lawrenson:

Can Liverpool replace Luis Suarez? No.

Are marquee players available? I don’t think so.

But what Brendan has done is so, so clever.

Instead of a direct replacement he has spread the load.

There isn’t that pressure on one player to get all the goals now.

And in bringing in two or three to get 10 or so goals each, it brings an extra degree of flexibility to the squad.

Say Sturridge gets injured, then Remy can play through the middle no problem.

And that’s not just restricted to the forwards, that type of flexibility is all over the pitch. It is very clever on every single level.

You very rarely get excited about a squad being built but with this one you can actually see it.

You can see the building blocks are coming together and I can’t wait to see it all come off.

That's just stupidly hopeless. Talk about making a virtue out of a necessity.

Allen does not think the Xavi comparison is a psychological burden, adding: "For some people the Xavi comparison could probably be an albatross. It is some player to be compared to. I don’t take things like that too seriously.

Your not the only 1, you utter bell.

“Some people have maybe used that in a negative way, but, from my point of view, you have to look at it as something that should flatter you. It should inspire you to become as good as someone like that."

Hilarious. This 5 yard passing dullard thinking he can get near to the defence splitting genius of Xavi.

He's brought in a) southampton players, inc a yard-dog forward. b) players that no-one has heard of, but for a LOT of money. c) Remy. Good player, but suspect temperament and is he really good enough...he could be just another Cisse

Basically, he HAS done what Spurs did with the Bale money

It looks like a pretty hopeless window from the point of view of a team looking to build on what they did. Lawrenson's polishing a turd here. The one genuine wild card player that meant almost everything to Liverpool goes out the door replaced by no one of anything approaching that ability. That's just accepting you had one freak season and are now preparing for a CL qualification dog fight.

We signed a Wigan player who has become central to our team.
