ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Agger broke down in tears after learning of Barca interest. He wants out. Its the kind of reaction that says his bags have been packed and is hammering in the ' for sale ' sign to his house.

Wonder what those new signings will make of this, especially that full back, who said he couldnt wait to sign for Liverpool.

B...b... best in der werldddd

Exactly. A host of class players knocking them back and now a current player demanding a move.

Sorry if this's been posted but Ive been away...
Not content with perpetuating the myth surrounding the capabilities of Joe Allen,"The Welsh Xavi"* , yesterday's Anfield Bugle, our lovely local paper, re-invented the wheel and heralded the retirement of Xavi from international football with the headline 'Spanish Joe Allen' retires.
Such wit from the red pen of the sub editors.

Please tell me they did that with tongue slightly in cheek?

The game today is sadly controlled by money and in particular, high wages. A player is usually swayed by the higher pay packet and Liverpool clearly have no problem in this category. It used to be the team name, history and tradition of a club that would ultimately be the deciding factor in a players decision. The last 5 + years has seen a dramatic change in the balance of this and its now who can offer the bigger slice of bread. They can't attract the world class players of the game. Its quite simple really

Brendan ' b-rod ' Rodgers.

He's a nobody and Falcao was probably scratching his head at the name.

No..as you know they don't do irony. They didn't mention Allen at all in the article, so they've simply lifted the piece straight off the news feed and added their own headline. The thick RS probably read it and thought "ah yeah... that must be wha they call him in Spain then hey, la" thus the Welsh Xavi is turned into the real thing whereas the real Xavi is relegated to being but a mere copy of Allen. The Echo and the RS...providing psychiatrists with hallucination case studies for years.

Elite players are attracted to successful, high profile glamourous clubs, but it means nothing whatsoever to that class of player that a club has 'a great history'. A club out of the loop of success like Liverpool will only be able to attract the tier of players below...and only then if they're willing to pay a fortune in wages.

If someone like Falcao went to Liverpool I'd have to think that it's because he's never been at (or attracted an offer from) a truly major club and therefore is willing, with the right wages, to take a chance with them for a year on loan. It's only that type of freak set of circumstances that will allow Liverpool to land an established class player.

Agger reportedly 'begging' to be let go from Liverpool to Arsenal.

Ha Ha Ha.

Falcao: doubt he'd threaten his own career by moving to Liverpool even for a loan spell. Even if he does go he's a shadow of the player Liverpool have lost.

If Agger is that desperate put in a transfer request, silly beggar.

I can't imagine another club doing that. What would they think if a gang of Americans stood grinning outside the Hillsborough memorial with 'The Boston Breakers 2014 world tour' written on a wreath? Would they see it as a nice gesture or all a bit odd?

I've never seen Kenny happier by the way. The should take him on a tour of disaster sites more often.

Selhurst Park next.
