They get worse and worse

He's injured and out for the first few games, isn't he? The other issue is that without Suarez, opposing defences have less to concentrate on and will put more focus on stopping Sturridge and man-marking Sterling.

Basically, take away the goals Suarez scored and half the goals Sturridge scored, and Liverpool are narrowly-avoiding relegation.

Should be an interesting season!

This is why Liverpool scored so many goals last season.

Suarez plays. 3 men mark Suarez to prevent him from scoring (which is why he went through a few dry patches during the season). That gave Sturridge the space to score; he had so many chances because of it that he couldn't not get a bunch of goals. If they switched over to mark Sturridge, Suarez was back in the game.

Without Suarez, they're screwed.

More from the article Jacob quoted on the previous page:

Yeah, they didn't get any lucky breaks in their game vs Man City AT ALL, let alone any of the others did they? Still boggles the mind that Sewerat wasn't sent off in that game, never mind in all the time he was sniding his way through the Premier League.

Still, here's to them "handling" any other pressures which come their way this season just as assuredly.

haha bless him.

didn't get that wee bit of luck? it was the jammiest season anyone has had in living memory.

even jammier when chelsea picked a reserves team when everyone else had to play their strongest teams and they still bottled it. didn't they have about 20 penalties and 3 at OT? united hadn't conceded a pen at home for about a decade until a few years back. they're utterly moronic that club, virtually everyone who's ever played for them and all their fans - the rosiest of red tinted specs.

no wonder there was no liverpool players at joe allen's wedding, but it was littered with swansea players.
