Rodgers knew all about the Sun and Liverpool when he put that t-shirt on and gave that paper publicity. He wasn't a wide eyed innocent. EVERYONE in football knew what the Sun meant to people in Liverpool. He exercised his judgement that it was a trade off to give them free publicity and get some cash off them for the charity he was walking for.

You can give him a free pass if you like. I wont.

I think this thread is the one patch of internet where my opinions align with davek's.

This to me is why you all come across as a strange breed mate. If that was Martinez or Mourinho pictured with a sun T-shirt on they'd be the spawn of the devil. There could be no reason or justification for it, you'd all pile in with your usual bile. The fact that it's Rodgers means you'll look for all excuses to try and justify it, which makes you look like complete idiots. If you've got a cause you care about and a worthy one in hating the sun, then you can't pick and choose when it suits you.

I will give him a free pass Dave because this issue is a non issue as far as I`m concerned. It`s an issue raised by fans of other clubs (mainly blues) as a stick to try and beat us with. Rodgers did a charity event and in the process wore that t shirt 12 months before he was our manager. This is no way the same as Souness giving an interview to that paper not long after Hillsborough happened. Just not the same mate.

A lot of our fans are wools trying to show there "Liverpoolness" and it gets quite "banshee like" (if that`s actually a term) at times. Wools screaming from the rooftops about anything and everything mate. Don`t get me wrong there are probably scousers who do the same but it`s [Poor language removed] magnified ten fold with the millions of wool followers
We all have a dislike for the S*n (Scouse and wools) but I just can`t personally see the issue with Rodgers 12 months before he got the Liverpool job. I don`t believe that every single person who is not connected to Liverpool should inherently have a problem with the S*n. If you come to Liverpool and then have dealings with that paper, then yeah that`s a big issue.
I liked Bobby before he took over the blues and have a lot more respect for him after his speech at Anfield over Hillsborough, it was a touch of class, so if he was pictured in a S*n t shirt (once) I don`t think I could be too pissed of with him.
Mourinho is a gobshite and always will be, simple as.
