That's ridiculous to be fair.

I am, to a certain extent, just messing with a red on the forum.

But why is it ridiculous? There is an underlying statement there. Many of the people blurting "don't by the sun" weren't of an age during the incident. They don't actually understand the significance or the reasons behind it, they are just tagging along because it's the trendy thing to do, "DON'T BUY THE SUN" like it's some chant at a football match. That's the wrong reason to support any cause.

If, god help us, that happened to us, I wouldn't appreciate a red telling me to let it go mate.

I hate the Sun. I hate anyone who buys the Sun. You are right in that if I wasn't around when it happened then I probably wouldn't care as much but if anyone on Merseyside wants to hate the Sun then it's not for anyone to tell them to 'let it go'.

Mate, this has potential to backfire on you. I remember it, I won't buy The Sun.

Yes, youngsters may latch on to it, but with good reason, as long as someone tells them of the general feeling of the time as well.

You don't mean ill, but I advise you to drop it mate, for your own good.

I was 1 when it happened, I'd never touch the paper, alright I wasn't even aware it was happening nor do I know anyone who lost their life but the fact my mum still wells up when it comes on, my dad refusing to but anything Murdoch related, and not seeing an issue of the paper anywhere local says all I need to know, plus it's a load of crap.

I remember the semi final couple of years back at Wembley, played on the weekend of the anniversary of Hillsborough,a newsagents down there had billboards outside with don't but the Sun,JFT96 etc,I was behind a group of Cockney Reds and they're like,"Don't buy the fackin san, whats that all about then"You couldn't begin to make it up with them really.

Look mate, lets just say your wrong. The majority of reds have a full understanding of the reasons behind the boycott. It`s just ingrained now and is passed down to the younger generations. The younger lads in our family have a good grasp of it and that applies to the young blue cousins and nephews we have.
I work from an office in Yorkshire and I was talking to a young lad from Barnsley last week and he asked me about my thoughts of the S*n. I was taken back about his knowledge of the S*n`s role in Hillsborough. I think you`d be surprised at the understanding of the younger generation coming through.

Murdoch isn't the enemy mate, it's Kelvin McKenzie.

I know Murdoch is a knob, but he's not the villain in this one.

You are spectacularly missing the point, if it has to be broken down into bite sized pieces so you can digest it then you really shouldn't be discussing it in the way you are.

Because of the behaviour of the rag we are 25 years down the line and still no one has been found culpable, despite what we know.
If you're not from this city then wind it up, if you are then I'm truly embarrassed for you

He really is vermin. I hate the way he appears on things like Question time trying to be a man of the people when he was more than willing to crucify the people to get headlines for his comic of a paper.

It's like the adverts for the Sun 'Footballs number one fan'. Yet the first time football fans needed someone to help they sided with the authorities and the Tories. Nah, I'll never like that paper and won't celebrate McKenzie's death as with Thatchers, but it'll make me smile.

I wish folk would stop aiming their anger at Murdoch and realise that it was the work of Kelvin McKenzie.

Absolute scum of a man - that's; THE TRUTH

Bitter barstewards...

Reds say sorry
Liverpool have apologised to Manchester United for the behaviour of their supporters during last month's FA Cup fifth-round tie at Anfield.

The club and Merseyside police conducted an investigation into disturbances, during which objects, including human excrement, coins and food, were thrown at United supporters in the Anfield Road stand. Liverpool's stadium and operations manager Ged Poynton has written to United admitting standards had "fallen short".

He said: "We deplore what certain fans have done. I class anyone who wants to throw a coin or something else when they are leaving as cowards. I am ashamed to admit in one case excrement was thrown. How low can you get? We did what we could, we tried to brush people down and compensated those involved. But I have never seen anything like it before."

Tensions between the rival clubs had been running higher than usual going into the match - won 1-0 by Liverpool - following the controversial end to their league clash at Old Trafford the previous month when United's Gary Neville celebrated in front of Liverpool fans after Rio Ferdinand had headed a late winner.
