ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Well if you think Raheem is anything like SWP, then my knowledge would be wasted on you.

Theo Walcott
Shaun Wright-Phillips
Kieron Dyer
Aaron Lennon

These young speedsters looked really exciting on the ball, scored and assisted some very nice goals. Walcott particularly was ultra-lauded. Got a hat-trick vs Croatia, I believe.

Sterling's hype reminds me of the hype which surrounded those lads.

It's not their fault the media and blinkered fans think they're world-class before they've had time to really develop. Probably stunted their game more than anything. Not sure Brendan Rogers is the right man to manage a potential talent like Sterling, either. Rather someone who focusses on nuances of the game rather than a blood-n-rush philosophy. Problem with the latter for speedsters is once you lose your pace, your manager hasn't given you any prep for how to adapt your game. It was Michael Owen's downfall too, tho' he had an excellent career still, to be fair.

For the counter-example, see Ryan Giggs. Lost his pace, as speedsters do (unless you're a bald dutchman), but adapted his game successfully as he had a manager who was hyper-aware.

Add Danny Wallace, Rod Wallce Ruel Fox and Andy Impey to that list. Fact is, fast black midgets don't become world class footballers.

Also echo the sentiment that he was bit poo last night. Good pass foe the 1st goal but that goal was as mch about Welbeck's run as Sterling's pass.

Wilfred Zaha tis another though he might come good away from OT

Shaun Wright Philips was all the rage in 2005. Wenger is a long-time admirer of Manchester City and England star Shaun Wright-Phillips.

But the Frenchman says his club cannot pay the £20m City are likely to want for the 23-year-old.

"It's true I follow his progress," Wenger added. "But his progress is much quicker than expected and unfortunately his price has gone up with that.

"I haven't been quoted a price, it's just what I read in the newspapers. But they say about £20m, so that has gone to levels we could not afford."
Wenger expects Wright-Phillips to become a key member of the England team.

"Can he replace David Beckham? In the future, he certainly will. He's already a threat for anyone in the England team," he said.

"Beckham is still the captain, the leader of the team, and he can play in different positions.

"But I feel that Wright-Phillips can be a threat for anybody as he can play right or left or as a second striker."
