Unsure if I am losing my basic comprehension skills, but a lot of what BR says here is, to me, gibberish...

Quote from Mark Lawrenson:

"The Europa League is a nuisance for Liverpool. But at least now it is knock-out and as a manager Rodgers can decide on a round-by-round basis on what he wants to do, and view the Europa League two days before he plays each tie.

"There is a Champions League place at the end of it. That is not a factor now but that changes the further you go in the Europa League and also if the top four becomes less likely in the Premier League."

Why is it a "nuisance" for Liverpool and not any of the other teams in it?

Arrogant Yewtree bumwipe.

I think most managers are very happy to still 'be in Europe'. Todgers has however, in the midst of all his other early excuses/damage limitation for their failings, always made a play that the cycle of Champions League football games on top of domestic games has hampered his ability to progress, assess and even train his "new" players. The 'nuisance' is that he still has these extra Euro games but without the ego mania "marquee" CL games. The RS can marginalise the Europa all they like, but you can bet your sweet ass that they'll be treating it with respect when they play. Fickle as ....

The amount of nonsense they've come out with

And waffle Rodgers really quite spectacular comments and subsequent implosion

Is making them properly hurt right now. They're really on a short fuse as they genuinely thought they were contenders again.

Rather they are contenders for everyone's "2nd team". As in the team everyone looks to second hoping they lose.

Thats a fact. I don't know anyone who doesn't support them who remotely likes them. Remotely.

They haven't used that for a while.

The term self delusion was coined specifically for BR........

Quote....“The message for me is clear, I don’t think there would be anyone better to do the job here,” Rodgers said. “Seven months ago we nearly won the title unexpectedly, I had time to work with players and took them beyond where the club has been. This has been a difficult start with new players and less coaching time with young players, virtually starting again. I don’t think there is anybody equipped better to deal with that and deal with that having been here for the last 2½ years and experienced what this club is about"

Those whom the gods would destroy they first make mad............

How is the Europa League a 'nuisance'? Can't believe how out of touch these idiots who get paid to write about football are. It did Rafael's reputation no harm when he won it with Chelsea. If Rodgers wins it it'll be his job safe for another couple of years and we all know what us winning it would be like.

“The club has employed someone who, without being arrogant, believes he can get the best out of a senior player or a youth player. He will always maximise talents he has and I think last year proved that. This year a new group of players have come in and we have been unfortunate with injuries. The club is in a different place from others but that is something I accept as part of my job here at Liverpool.”
