His own manager landed him with that millstone when he unveiled him in 2012. Rodgers and his p/poor take on psychology once again firing a blank.

Vaults...

“I would have paid many millions more for this kid. He’s unique in that he’s a British player who is incredible on the ball."

"We paid £15m for him and I said that very quickly that price would double and people probably laughed at me."

"Match of the Day analyst Alan Shearer highlighted the newly-crowned Welsh Player of the Year’s reluctance to take chances but Rodgers rapped: “I saw something criticising Joe Allen for not playing risk passes.

“Unbelievable – so-called pundits who don’t know the dynamics of a team and how it functions.

“Joe’s role is to keep the ball. And that, in Britain, is a special talent. It is why Paul Scholes is still playing to his age. It is such a rare talent for a midfielder to rarely give the ball away."

“People have talked about him and his fee but in time he will be an absolute bargain.

I wasn't particularly impressed with United yesterday especially at the back where Ive never been taken with Evans and Jones. If Rodgers had had any nous he would have gone at these two with speed instead of the ponderous pass/pass approach which is ok when the passes are accurate. They weren't. The great chances they had to score could've produced another false RS win but De Gea wasn't even tested that much with the same shots from Stirling in spite of his M-O-M award. The RS should be more concerned with the fact that this half heartedness in front of goal is being replicated throughout the rest of these teams of seeming strangers that Rodgers keeps pitching out...none more so than their talisman skipper. Wednesday night will in a lot of ways be a bigger test than yesterday and if they bottle that too, it could prove pivotal for a few of their personnel.

The only time I noticed Gerrard today was when he got a booking for holding RVP back at around the 80th minute mark. He's totally gone.
Played an excellent pass into Moreno who couldn't control it well, which MOTD2 was at pains to express was world-class from Gerrard, simply cos that's all he did all game.

MAde up with the result yesterday. Cheered the goals and even my cheer at the final whistle was met by a happy shout from my 4 month old daughter, blue at heart like her dad.

But the reason why i was so made up was two fold.

1) All the anti united stuff on facebook. You know the type, once the bi annual we are deluded to think united give us a second thought day rolls about there is all the videos and statuses and stuff that try to ignite a rivallry that for the past 20 years has only been in their mind. So for them to be rolled over like that makes that nice.

2) mata is in my FF team and got a goal and assist. :)

But seriously though, there will be talk of 'if only we had sturridge' or if only we had a top striker etc about yesterdays game. Fact is, they started without a striker on the pitch, were two nil down at half time and united could invite and even squader possesion in their own half and liverpool couldn't score. They have a 16 million replacement for suarez, a 4 million third choice striker, a 11 million player who they didnt want and a 10 million pound one not scoring in france. I wish just one day people would just wake up and say, hang on our squad is terrible. At least before the likes of Kuyt done a job for them and scored some important goals. Hell Garcia scored goals ala cahill for us and he was one dimensional. they have 4 strikers who are fit as of this moment and none of them can score. And still the back of the echo reads in support of Rodgers, as if he is just had bad luck.

and im not having the 'if it wasnt for de gea argument, suarez / torres / fowler / owen get the chances ballotelli got yesterday and they score them, bad management and bad tactics again. I hope they do lose next week as well, just to make it much sweeter.

Yeah I noticed that. It wasn't even a highlight, didn't result in a shot or anything, just miscontrolled by Moreno and got cleared by the defender. End of highlight. Pathetic the way they felt the need to show that just so they could marvel at the pass from the English Pirlo

FSG must have advisors around them questioning the signings that have been made, They have always seemed ruthless to me

My grandad said the same thing, in his opinion he thinks the yanks are all about money and business. If the business model (managers running of the firm) is not producing results (money from champions league and tv exposure from finals) then they will make a managerial change when they see fit.

No doubt

Rodgers WILL get the sack. I dunno when, but it will happen, and it will be because of poor results. And I cannot wait for that day (so long as it is far enough down the line that their season cannot be recovered by whoever they bring in). The guy is a hideous, smug caricature of a man, with an ego currently unparalleled in football. His downfall will be a thing of beauty.

“We want to recapture the team ethos,” he said. “We had a team that was growing for a couple of years and has changed with injuries and whatever. It is just that emphasis on the team.

“It is pretty clear we are searching to find solutions in the game to get wins. The players are working incredibly hard. There is not a lack of effort. The attitude was first-class but, when you are not winning as consistently, the feelings are a little bit different but you want to get wins and concentrate on your performances.”

One player out injured ffs

Utd fan in work made a good point this morning

The team Utd put out yesterday had none of there summer signings starting, So it was basically the team Utd finished 7th with
