ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I'll be in my local alehouse tonight which will no doubt be full of card-carrying, beshirted Kopites and I shall smile smugly to myself when/if Bournemouth turn them over.

The difference with Everton supporters is that we blame the owners (and Hibbert/Osman) even when we are winning!
The difference is they pick poor managers and back them. Our owners pick great managers but fail to give them any sort of backing.

Not sure if serious?

Anyway, Liverpool:

#LFC are making an audacious bid to sign Petr Cech on loan. Chelsea have not dismissed completely the idea of a loan for Cech. (Mirror)

Rodgers will spend as much as it takes to bring in a striker capable of running in behind defences, with targets Lacazette & Bony. (Mirror)

IF they could pull these off it would be quite the coup. 3 very good targets.

I hope with all my heart they go out tonight. Can't be doing with them in the semis of a cup after playing so badly.
This week is going far too well, which means they'll win tonight. The gulf in class between a very average premiership club and the top of the championship is huge, as Leicester are proving. Having said that I'll be settling down in a pub in Harrow with the obligatory plastic reds hoping otherwise.

Two problems with this. 1) Its not really up to him, is it? Its up to his bosses if he "can spend as much as it takes". Which brings us directly into 2) If he knew that he wanted to get a striker that could run behind defences, why did he buy Lambert and Balotelli?

3? lol

Dont trust the mirror for football rumours. Also chelsea wont do business like that with liverpool, they would be foolish to.

As for the striker, well..........they have 5 of them signed in the past 18 months already. Not sure how many more the owners will put up cash for considering he isnt playing any of his strikers in big games and they arent scoring when they do play. Would you trust your manager with that sort of ratio?

No I would not.

This is going to get very messy. They will be split on knashers, split on the ownership, split on Rafael returning and split on the role of Gerrard.

The more things go on, the more Rodgers looks like a no mark who managed to get second place because he had Suarez in a run of unbelievable form. If you think back to that Chelsea game, while Gerrard is often criticised for the slip (rightly) it was gnashers arrogance of trying to hammer Chelsea that cost him.

Mourinho foresaw what he would do, and with an under strength side out outdid him tactically. However, would Fergusan, Mourinho etc have made the same mistake, or just tried to play for a 0-0 draw?

Regarding the transfer policy, even if what they say is true, it’s not that they haven’t identified decent players. Lovren was a good centre back last season. Balottelli scored lots of goals last year. Moreno was solid. Lambert scored 16 goals last season. Markovic was highly thought of.

The problem is, they have all massively regressed under Rodgers. Think of all the players he’s bought, and outside of Sturridge which of them have enhanced their reputation?

Of course they haven’t gone and bought a Sanchez, a Di Maria etc. The grim reality is (what they can’t accept) they are not a big club anymore. They have been out of the champion’s league for years. They haven’t won a league in a generation. You would join Arsenal, Dortmund etc ahead of them as they are now bigger clubs than Liverpool. Their delusional ideas of how big they are hold them back.

And 4?
He's still not addressing a defence with more holes in it than a colander.

I don't mate, few different sources running with it today. I can't see Cech going to Pool or Bony. Lacazette might have some truth in it though.

Mirror if you read the threads on here is very very unreliable for transfer news. Unless it is a resputable source then dont believe the mirror. They like to sell our players almost on a daily basis, including Baines, coleman, Stones, Barkely and McCarthy

Mr Clever has got his mates in the RS dominated media to a] blame the transfer committee, even though he has the final say and, b] get them to put out transfer targets, that are not going to happen anyway, that Bodgers wants and when none get bought blame the owners for 'not backing him'.
