ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Sterling gets two goals against a championship team and he's suddenly comparing him to one of the games best players and turning him into a striker, there's no wonder his agents are looking for more money.

If the benchmarks suddenly scoring against lower level teams reserves then their truly fecked long term with him there, once again he's making comments that will come back and haunt him in the not to distant future. If this is them back to normal and he tinkers with the team against Arsenal and they get beat they'll turn on him big time, if he doesn't swap it around Gerrard is going to be exposed and so are his back 3 and wingbacks.
Sterling proved his striking prowess at the top level with those gilt edeged chances against Man Utd that he was unable to put away. And based on last nights performance I would have to concede that he would indeed be one of the best players in the lower levels.

There's a bit of an obsession with Sterling in here I've noticed. I remember we had opposition supporters all laughing at a certain Ronaldo when we first signed him, saying he was "s**t" etc.

Be careful when writing off young players dears - I am not saying that Sterling WILL become a great but from what I've seen, he's a very decent footballer with poor end product.

We also laughed at Richardson, Cleverley, Obertan, Bebe, Anderson, Tosic, Dong Fangzhou, Chadwick, etc.

Why?

I am sure many have laughed at plenty of Everton players down the years too mate, believe me!

Most youth players don't make it.

Most fans get enthusastic about their young players and claim they'll defo make it.

Sometimes Ronaldo for you, Rooney for us, Gerrard for the RS they do. Mostly there's just a lot of embarassing hype and the player fizzels out. Rodwell and Baxter come to mind for us. Mellor, le tallec and Spearing come to mind for them.

Hyping up a young player is infinitely more likely to back fire than writing one off.
