ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Yeah i understand your choices, i'd expect less from a loan so i guess its easier to be a hit.

But even being harsh its incredible how our managers can in the main make good purchases with less money than theirs spend on total crap.

You'd think they'd have to actively be trying to be that bad sometimes.

It is simple really. They cannot attract the top players, dont/cant understand that, so spunk on 2nd tier ones, at best to sate themselves. Think back to when they were dominating. No one turned them down. Which made their transfer policy look ace back then.

Ive got a simplified answer. If I may?

They're just not a very good football club.

True. But they do have the lure of a "global brand", which seduces owners, and allows the deluded masses that "support" them to gorge on past glories whilst convincing themselves that they are part of an elite set of clubs.

It's not true at all really though. They are a very good football club.

But in recent times their managers have in the main paid a lot of money for total crap.

A fair few very good players in their too but it should be easier to buy good players with that money, they just somehow struggle to a hell of a lot of the time.

Or rather. They have: "the lure of the deluded"

I love the way they've tried to give CPR to the idea that signing Sanchez would've been the panacea to all their inadequacies....Tony Barrett/Matt Hughes in today's Times

Rodgerspeak....“I think if you look at how I ask the teams to play, it is critical to have a forward of Sánchez’s type,” Rodgers said. “Not just with the ball, but the intensity with the pressing. When Daniel was injured in August, everyone could see that, as a result, our game has become much deeper because of personnel."....
The oddity is that, given that a player of Sánchez’s style is so fundamental to the way Rodgers wants his team to play, Liverpool’s response to missing out was the move for Loïc Rémy, a different type of forward altogether. That they ended up feeling the need to sign Mario Balotelli, even though he certainly does not fit the profile that Rodgers was looking for, was also bizarre, providing another indication of an inadequate strategy. These failings have been undermining Liverpool ever since, and even if they pull off a morale-boosting win this afternoon, these are unlikely to go away
.....
Another rolling snowball of Rodgers contradiction

In his press conference yesterday Wenger cast doubt on whether Liverpool had actually ever been in contact with Sanchez or his agent.

Sounds like Rodgers trying to cover his own arse with tales of 'just missing out' on his 'real target' and having to work with 'players bought for hm' by 'the committee'.

That was a doubly pleasurable 'sit back and enjoy' moment of the Summer...watching Suarez kick them in the guts (and half of the thick RS being surprised at that) followed by a procession of supposed marquee signings either dismissing outright the merest hint of signing for them or not commenting at all on the suggested moves for them by the RS Transfer Workers CoOperative Committee.

4 HITS IN 23 (excluding the Lethal Lille Sharp Shooter) ... not much of a success rate

Everton's last 23 buys/loans

at least half are hits

Gareth Barry (£1M plus loan fee) HIT
Mo Besic (£4M) HIT

Source: Toffeeweb

So there we have it - £6M in the bank and a whole lot better at it than the RS.

Tbh ...these kind of posts baffle me, undecided on McGeady who has played plenty, yet Robles is a miss after how many games ?

I'm no Robles fan boi but jesus, lids are hating on him as if it's the norm, who's to say with a run of 10-15 games he might be ace with a bit of confidence about him.
