Sod the FA Cup, I think they are nailed on to win the league next year (no Champions League, no Slippy G).
Rodgers is just a slightly less talented, more arrogant and cringeworthy version of Moyes and he will win them absolutely nothing.
When you look at him he stinks of a no mark loser who’d probably be boring people half to death in a job as a security guard somewhere if he hadn’t won the lottery and been given the job of Mourinho’s cone man.
Much like Moyes he brings in some quite talented younger players. Unlikely Moyes he spends a fortune doing this. And unlike Moyes he thinks he’s re-invented the wheel by doing this.
They have become like how we were under Moyes though. When the pressure is on they will bottle it. They’d have lost at Bolton were they playing 10 men.
At the start of the season, having spent 100 million and been crowned the April Champions of the premier league they were given a huge opportunity to win the league. It was their moment. It was Rodgers moment. Fast Forward to February and they are languishing in 7th place. They were unceremoniously dumped out of the easiest champions’ league group imaginable, having managed only 1 win. They have been knocked out of 2 competitions already.
They are making a bit of a revival now there is no danger of threatening anyone. Rather like how we did under Moyes. Rodgers messes about with formations and sides don’t really take them seriously or give much thought to how to counter it. This 3-4-3 malarky will only work for as long as they are not a threat. The moment sides start to counter them, and realise Sakho is a complete liability and at this point they are finished and the goals will start following in at the back again.
God, we are awful at the moment and we managed the prevent them beating us, by simply sitting off them and not allowing them to counter. They were completely snookered without that, and had it not been for a Debutante having a good game would have been lucky to get a 0-0.
What’s quite sweet is for all the mocking of us under Moyes that’s what they have become. A side that will finish between 7-4th(if they are lucky) and bottle it at key moments like at the start of the season. To move beyond that you have to be able to attract top players. Much like Sanchez, Falcao, Willian or Lavezzi these top players will take one look at Rodgers and run a million miles in the other direction as he smacks of a loser who’s stuck in a delusional dreamworld.
They meanwhile will buy your Scott Sinclairs, your Hendersons and convince themselves they are building a dynasty. Long live loser Rodgers.
