ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I think that's the reality of their lives mate, as in its pure fantasy. You mentioned a couple of days ago about the charity match and what did they do after that match? Yep, go out for a lavish party no expense spared. It was an organised piss up of the rich basically taking the piss. I used to live not far from the ground and they've literally left that place to ruin. I've spoken to Patrick ( who owns Epsteins on Anfield Road ), he's a character but you can hear the anger in his voice about how they stripped the life out of the surrounding area. Then you have these players of theirs openly talking about "no I wouldn't sign a 100k contract if it was put in front of me". That just doesn't sit right with me that and if that was an Everton player saying shyt like that I can guarantee they wouldn't be an Everton player within 24 hours of that comment. Of course Everton players are on ridiculous wages as well ( I can't get my head around how anyone can earn over 5k a week for being good at togger lol ), but it's important they don't rub people's noses in it and you keep your head down and try and put in a shift on the pitch and we don't question their wages. We are all cut from a different cloth than them, they are all rats being led a merry dance by Peter Pan aka Liverpool football club, established cult since (insert preferred year here)

This is spot on. I remember a similar situation to us with Jeffers when he demanded more and the fans were outraged with him. He was dropped from the team, a team that was desperate for his goals and ran the risk of being relegated.

What is amusing is they are slowly being reduced to that level. A team that cannot hang onto decent young players.

On Reds captain Steven Gerrard, who will be facing the Gunners in the league for the last time before his move to LA Galaxy, Wenger added: "When Liverpool were in trouble everyone looked towards him and nine times out of 10 he got them out of it."

suspended?

It was over turned on appeal by the FA they citied his apology as a show of public contriction.

Yeah, 20 year old or not, he's the employer though. He needs to see that it's him not his agent that carries the can. And if your adviser has got you to a point like this he's utterly failed you...it's not just their job to boost your wages, they're there also to make sure the image isn't tarnished.

PMSL at it all tbh. The Kopites can drive him out of town with sticks for all I care.

The problem is, like a lot of young people they are badly advised. It is easy to judge him, but I was a massive whopper at 19/20 and thought I was the big I Am. I wasn't a very successful athlete and had nothing to back up my arrogance, so I dread to imagine what modern footballers are like.

The problem is this hasn't been helped by Rodgers. In fact it has been openly championed by Rodgers. Rather than challenging that arrogance he feeds into it, telling Sterling he's the best young player in Europe and other such nonsense. It's little wonder it's all gone to his head. They've created a monster.

It's no good now telling him to "concentrate on your football and move to Real Madrid when you are good enough too" once you've boosted his ego.

The sending him on a trip to Jamaica as a bribe to get him to sign and all the flattery looks all the more stupid now. Sterling has taken their hype, believed it and unfortunately for them feels he is too big for Liverpool.

That's the bit of the equation they miss, which I love, when they brag about how great their players are. That if they were that great they would leave a club like Liverpool, and want to work with a better manager than Rodgers.

They will slowly rewrite history once he goes. "He was never that effective or consistent and we have done well to get 20 million from City"

But even when this happens, they never acknowledge the fact that it's because of the reason you stated, that the player has made a step up in his career. It's always "der meeja driving dem out of de country" or "eez just a money grabber dat one YWAN"

This is what happens when you buy players from other academies and try and pass them off as your own. Fed up of hearing about Liverpool's 'conveyor belt' of talent which really just means they bought Sterling and Ibe but no one remembers. Problem is the fans start to believe it and think Sterling owes them his entire career. He went there as a career move and now he'll go elsewhere. They got lucky Gerrard stayed so long in a period of guaranteed champions league football meaning they always remained relevant. Now despite all the media bravado the reality is they are not champions league regulars and are not trophy winners. Why would a top English talent stay? We'll have the same problem with Stones at some point if we don't have success.

The thing is, it's best for Sterling's development if he stays

If he takes 90-100K now, he'll probably be on loads more than 150K in a couple of years anyway if he continues to develop at the rate which he is

I mean, he's not going to be struggling on 90K a week is he?

Take that now, improve as a player and then take a massive contract in 2-3 years time when you're actually ready to justify one. Thusly, you'll then be "juiced in" as a big contract player forevermore

There's a strong chance that he'd go to City/Chelsea/Royal Madrid in the summer and flop there because he isn't ready. Sure, he'd get maybe a year or two on 150K, but he'd never make anything close to that again as he'd be just another promising young player who flopped at a "bigger" club (i.e. Rodwell)

If he stays at Liverpool, he can continue to be a big fish in a comparatively smaller pond and get a big move in a couple of years

The agent should realise this and be making it clear to him. Both agent and player are lacking foresight here
