Nothing more than a token contract offer was put on the table with the terms of 'if you want to play then that's it', so Carragher jumped ship.

Exactly the same happened with Gerrard: a token contract offer was made to appease the fans and press, but he was never going to accept it.

Whether it's Rodgers trying to remove the old-heads and stamp his own authority, or their board trying to cut wages I do not know.

Either way - it's fun to watch! Soon they'll be like every other soulless club lacking character and desire, and that will hurt them the most!

Regarding carragher thats what i meant really, he was 'allowed' to leave.
I think Gerrard and Carragher were the last two players to keep Liverpool in the spotlight, the media loved trying to create a fairytale with Gerrard lifting the league trophy alongside Carragher. Once Gerrard leaves they will be soulless to go along with senseless.
