Wonder if Liverpool are seriously considering Falcao. Perhaps he is just taking time to get over the knee injuries but at the moment he reallymdoesn't look suited to the league.

@danielstorey85: Radamel Falcao has been paid £2.95m by Manchester United since his last shot on target in the league.

Martin Skrtel will be offered a move to German side Wolfsburg this summer.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers already has to deal with the contract problems surrounding Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson at the end of this season – but Skrtel’s situation is also a top priority.

The 30-year-old is entering the final year of his Anfield contract and with talks not set to take place until the campaign is over, Wolfsburg aim to take advantage. They are second in the Bundesliga and have sealed Champions League football for next year.

Skrtel has been at Liverpool for seven years and had talks at the beginning of the year, but discussions are on hold for now. Napoli are also showing interest in the centre-back.

As we revealed last week, Liverpool are looking at Swansea’s Ashley Williams as a possible replacement. West Ham could also try to sign Reds’ full-back Glen Johnson if they fail to keep hold of Carl Jenkinson.

Falcao could be better next season, he now knows what this league is about, you don't lose class over night unless his knee injury really set him back. Would rather the rs didn't sign him.

Brendan Rodgers says it will take Man City '20 years' to be as big as Liverpool
'You've got Liverpool and Man Utd, the two biggest clubs in this country, and the rest of them are fighting to be there over the next 20 years'

“I wouldn’t say that this was a development ground for going to bigger clubs,” Rodgers said of Liverpool. “If you say that Manchester City is a bigger club than Liverpool, you’re wrong.

“At this moment in time Manchester City are on a great project. They’re a wonderful club, I’ve seen it for myself a few years ago when I spoke with them [about being assistant manager]. I’ve got big respect for what they’re doing there. They’re trying to build it the right way and hopefully they’ll get young players through… but at this moment in time you can’t compare as a club the size of the two.

This is his rather clumsy retort to talk of City courting Sterling. In true Rodgerspeak though he manages to shoehorn in a self tribute as always. Pathetic....though the RS sheep would term it subtle, if they knew what that meant.

was he ever been that class? or just playing in sub-standard leagues. him and cavani have always been highly rated as the best strikers in the world, but i've always had my doubts over whether they can do it in big games.

Who's fault will it be today?

@davek
There's no excuses, no hiding places, no players he can throw under the bus today.

This is it for Gnashers. If they lose he'll have to get prepared for the avalanche of disenchantment between now and the end of the season when he'll be sacked.

He knows the enormity of the cup this season for him personally. Three season without a sausage after spending £250M. Those yanks MkII aren't going to be listening to sob stories in the summer, and they certainly wont be up for his nobrottery about technical advancement and stages in a project.

If I've said it once I've said it a million times: he's a no mark; he has the stink of a loser on him and even the cult can sense it. Watch the roof fall in today if they get beat. It'll be a swift fall from 'grace' for Rodgers. Make no mistake about that.

Going to be interesting seeing if The Ego gets his way and plays or will Brodgers have the bottle to keep him on the bench and let him lose on Villa in the second half like he did with Man Utd after that plan worked so well..
