Napoli manager Rafael Benitez must slim down if he is to manage Sampdoria, says club president Massimo Ferrero
Ex-Liverpool boss told he would need to see a dietician before appointment
Benitez was often mocked as a 'fat Spanish waiter' during his Anfield reign

Rafael Benitez has received fresh criticism of his waistline ahead of Napoli's crucial Serie A fixture with Sampdoria this weekend, as the quest for a UEFA Champions League place reaches a crescendo in Italy.
The Spaniard has been linked with the managerial job at Sampdoria after it emerged that Sinisa Mihajlovic - the current Blucerchiati boss - is being lined up to replace Benitez at Napoli.
But Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has taken inspiration from a favourite chant of the Goodison Park and Old Trafford terraces, appearing to quash rumours that a job swap is imminent.

'I could take Benitez, but I'd have to take him to see a dietician first,' Ferrero told Radio Crc.

Hahahahaha

To think, that feller was getting plaudits a few short weeks ago even on here for his 'flexibility' and 'tactical awareness'.

As we can all see clearly now it was all part of his lack of any principled position on anything football related and reliant on friendly hacks declaring how fine the Emperor's clothes really are. The past three seasons he's gotten away with this. He's a huckster; a grifter, a conman, a flim-flam man.

I had thought he'd get the benefit of the doubt from FSG. But I'm coming to the conclusion they will cut their losses with him now. I think this summer they'll call time on him. I doubt they'll be in any mood for another dose of massive cash injections to purchase the trash Rodgers hires and delivers zero success with. It doesn't sound conceivable they can carry on with this failed managerial regime. Rodgers is a loser. They know it.

He's toast. They can't put up with failure and lack of CL football. Henry has 'sold' LFC to loads of rich Americans to invest in FSG and they want to see them on the biggest stage. It is CL or the door. Rodgers is now 33/1 in from 66/1 to be the next manager to get the sack. Those in the media that have been banging on about Rodgers being an 'excellent and innovating manager' are now feeling let down as they are looking like idiots at the moment. There is nothing more vicious that a conned hack. They are sharpening their quills to thrust into Rodgers come the next defeat.

The impostor has been found out.

Still very generous odds. If Liverpool have a ropey last 6 game run-in the stories will start to appear about a crisis for him and I think those odds will shorten considerably.

A big factor will also be what happens with the fans and their attitude: given any encouragement from the Kopites that sacking Rodgers might be the best all round FSG would act quickly. They'll have taken in their predecessors' experience crossing swords with those loonies and wont want to move until they get a green light off them. That might come very quickly now - the subject is up for discussion on their forums.
