ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Yes the analogy has only come to me very recently. They have all the entitlement of a spoilt, neurotic, hormonal, teenage girl. The last thing you do with such a princess is tell them they are not special, or basically disagree with them in any way. The Kopites are the same. They have this very entrenched world view that everyone exists to make them happy. They also have a delusional self image of themselves that they are more special, better than everyone else. The truth is they are a no mark mid table team who have finished outside of the top 5 for 5 of the last 6 seasons and not won a trophy of note in about 7 years. The thought they measure themselves with the Real Madrids of this world is laughable.

But dey are Yuropeen royalty, la'

Dey have a big banner ar Anfiel on dem speshiul Yuropeen nights and dat's wot it says on it, like :(

Well yes, the frame the debate in a particular way that suits their argument which is classic neurotic behaviour. Rather than engaging with the facts they manipulate evidence in order to make themselves feel special.

They are a no mark club now who haven't won a trophy in coming up to 10 years. They are the equivalent of Everton in the 90's.

Yes they are, the third point I'd say is that they don't really understand football or Liverpool in spite of what they say. Similar could be thrown at Kenwright (though I don't think he's as efficient as them) but at least I think he understands football. I couldn't imagine him paying Jordan Henderson 100k based upon flimsy statistics. Nor could I imagine him presiding over the Suarez mess (well 3 messes), the current Stirling side show or the Gerrard leaking of stories in quite the same way. Nor would he as easily put up with the cringey nonsense of Rodgers. Natural football people can see through him. The distance they are away plays into it too.

There is always the worry that they could be bought out ah la City or Chelsea. The new FFP rules would hinder them though, as you are starting to see with Chelsea and City. They can't go and blitz in quite the same way. For all their protestations of "well run club" unlike the "money teams" (ie Chelsea) the truth is Chelsea are now well run. They do Liverpool's model, but with a top class manager to ensure the first team wins things a lot more effectively. Players like De Bruyne, Lukaku, Schurle etc all sold on for big money. This is out of necessity now due to FFP. I can't see Liverpool being as effective with big money as they would have been 10 years ago.

More importantly that ship has really sailed now. Increasingly big money merchants are buying clubs abroad. I think leading up to, and increasingly after the World Cup in Qatar there will be a big push for "arab money" to go into their own league's. Their stance they took around racism and Suarez won't have endeared them to the outside world either. There is also the increasing pull of the MLS, which would be a natural place to invest for Kudos and influence.

The premier league was a massive pull 10 years ago. Our teams dominated and to get influence one needed to own a club. I think those days have gone. No teams in the quarter finals again.

It is their (and every teams) fantasy to be bought out will oil money. I can't see it though. If Manchester United haven't been bought out Liverpool have no chance. Hopefully Labour will up the high rate of tax and outlaw non doms which will put them off further ha ha! I think this is their future. No bail outs. Mediocrity.

Loving all that except for one tiny point.

My dream of a gazillionaire buying EFC and making us a major force in world football lie in tatters :(

This all makes it all the more glorious when they fail

LFC get approval for their 15 foot high security screen to keep 'prying eyes' out.

The transition to a Waco style cult continues apace.

I expect a last stand being made here in the summer by Branch Brendivian forces protecting their messiah from eviction by 'dem yanks'.

Stoppitt, Dave......my wife thinks I an nuckin futz the way I burst out laughing at that post.

"Branch Brendivian".......:celebrate:

Spain international star Torres swapped Merseyside outfit Liverpool for London giants Chelsea in January 2011.

It was a controversial move and did not go down well with many of the Reds fans, but the 31-year-old has now claimed that former England international midfielder Gerrard gave him his backing.

“There is one player that influenced me above anyone else and that is Gerrard,” the AC Milan-owned star told The Sun.

“He changed my career, my ambition, the way of raising my targets, wanting to win, he changed everything.

“Even when I was leaving Liverpool he told me ‘go, think about yourself. Do what’s best for you because you’ve seen how people are leaving and it’s time. You have nothing to prove’.”

Torres struggled during his time at Chelsea, but he is one of the best strikers to have played for Liverpool.

It was at Anfield that the Spaniard developed into a world-class player, but one can understand why he moved to Chelsea.

Chelsea were on the up at the time, and leaving the Reds for the Blues was a step-up in his career.

It seems that Gerrard realised that, and also the fact that Torres was ambitious and wanted to win big things.

Hahahaha. Good old Stevie 'one club' me. Crying that he never made the move to the 'big club' Chelsea.

The Spanish international, Atheltico Captain that regularly finished in the top 5 goals scorers was quite good before Liverpool imo.

Next step. Burn the Suarez flag.

Very next step, bin the Sterling flag.

Cost £60.

Next step. Make a new flag. 'Ibe is the new Messi'.

Make another flag. 'All we are saying is bring back the cardinal'.

Or. 'Klopp won't see the Kop, flop'.

Cost £70.

Next step. Make new flag. 'Get rid of Rodgers, the impostor'.

Cost £30.

One thing worth remembering - Rodgers' current deal would mean that even if FSG were to lose faith in their manager, it could cost as much as £10m to sack him. And the same again to hire a replacement

http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/32379464

Add that to how much it would cost to hire Klopp (I've read he is looking at getting paid £8-10 million per year.) and with no CL footy either.

Looks like he will be stoically blaming his players for the Rs ills for some time to come.

Also what is with that pompous pseudo-black power salute he does when they score. Your team just scored a goal, have some fun with it you joyless tit.
