  1. 1 Jones - reasonable back-up
  2. 22 Mignolet - bang average, some good games and some bad
Defenders
  1. 2 Johnson - unwanted, over the hill, not good enough for even this team
  2. 3 Jose Enrique - see Johnson
  3. 4 K Touré - see Johnson but has great experience and usually doesn't let them down
  4. 6 Lovren- apparently very good, at least he was at Southampton but now not in favour
  5. 17 Sakho - ordinary in the extreme
  6. 18 Moreno - ordinary
  7. 19 Manquillo - on loan - nothing special
  8. 37 Skrtel - chips in with some good goals and a tough defender but prone to fouling opponents
  9. 38 Flanagan - ugly as .... and not that good either
Midfielders
  1. 8 Gerrard - so far over the hill he's almost in Yorkshire
  2. 10 Coutinho - the great white hope
  3. 14 Henderson - bang average and no Gerrard (pre 2013 version)
  4. 20 Lallana - see other Saints purchases
  5. 21 Lucas - clogger
  6. 23 Can - looks half-decent but pressed into defensive duties
  7. 24 Allen - nothing special, no Welsh Xavi that's for sure
  8. 31 Sterling - had a stellar 2014 but now not so clever and wants away
  9. 33 Ibe- the New Sterling?
Forwards
  1. 9 Lambert- unwanted and another Saint rejected
  2. 15 Sturridge- good on his day but never fit
  3. 29 Borini - makes Kone look PL quality
  4. 45 Balotelli - the best you can say about Mario is he's among their best three strikers
  5. 50 Markovic- has some potential but not much of it on show so far
If I had to ride a coach and horses through that squad only 5 or 6 are worthy of a place in the starting XI. Perhaps Mignolet (until replaced), Can, Skrtl, Coutinho, Lallana (but not on this season's showings), Sterling (if he stayed) and Sturridge (if fit). They really need a major overhaul and another 12-14 players. If Rodgers wasn't so busy bigging himself up and blaming everyone else except himself they might have built on their post-Xmas run and that would be worthy of credit given the ordinary level of quality in this squad. But, Rodgers being Rodgers it's all gone pear-shaped with a few poor results.

After I saw that horrendous advert for the first time, the aroma in all the Nivea products I owned suddenly made me feel nauseous.

Binning everything swiftly and choosing more tasteful brands did the trick.

Can't bring myself to bank with Standard Chartered, won't use Crown Paints, dumped my Zanussi washer years ago, steadfastly refuse to drink Carlsberg and thanks to endlessly seeing that turd Horrendouson in that pathetic Nivea advert, Nivea go go and do one too... Not that I take things to far, I just won't knowingly endorse or support any of their headlines sponsors.

they sound he wouldn't have fielded the team he did at the Bernabeu; doubtless our lads will do themselves and the club proud though. Not that he'll show it but just how difficult and just how ironic will this be
for Steven Gerrard to do? Loyalty's a cruel taskmaster ....




Oh boy, I think Rodgers might weell be down the road very, very soon.
