Aldridge: Liverpool can pip United for Champions League spot

Comedy gold.

Raheem Sterling's head is wrecked at it's all his agent's fault

His grammar is atrocious.

Never mind all this fuss about Liverpool players forming a guard of honour for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge if we were to win our last three games we might just sneak into a Champions League place.

The guy is entirely delusional.

What a high that would be for Steven Gerrard to bow out by pipping United to fourth place.

A complete readjustment of their sights. From "Its our year this year" to "Get Stevie G to Wembley" to "Lets pip United to fourth place".

Typical Liverpool Football Club that.

Its all CHELSEA'S FAULT!

That’s why Chelsea has become a very big game for us now. There could be a silver lining and another Istanbul when we least expect it.

He had to throw Istanbul in there. CRYSTANBUL more like Mr Aldridge.

You bunch of absolute charlatans

Chelsea are considering a shock move for Rickie Lambert as a possible replacement for Didier Drogba. The newly-crowned Champions had the 33-year-old Liverpool striker watched as he played the whole of Saturday’s 2-1 win over QPR.

The west Londoners are set to get an even closer look at Lambert next weekend as the Reds’ next game is at Stamford Bridge. The former Southampton striker joins Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor on the Chelsea shortlist to replace 37-year-old Drogba - third choice behind Diego Costa and Loic Remy - who is out of contract at the end of the season.
Someone got paid to write this.

I think Jose would sign Naismith before he'd sign adebayor.

Aldo's too proud to give title rivals Chelsea a guard of honour.

Ha Ha Ha Ha.

25 years......25 years!!!!

Okay Lou, I too can stomach Macmanaman, but the rest make me nauseous to the point where I'm losing weight throwing up as much as I do :):)

I don't mind Souness either.

Souness, McManaman and Keegan are three Liverpudlians who seem to have emerged from the cult with their psyche undamaged.

And none are popular with the Collective.

So the weekend roundup. I know Russel Brand does the "Trews" which is meant to be a roundup of the news without all the spin and bullshit of the politicans/mass media, and we could probably do with a similar concept for Liverpool.

They played the worst side in the league on Saturday. They also had the advantage of playing against 10 men. They fluked a win with 3 minutes to go due to a set play.

Fair enough a standard win they made hard work of. Once again they are busy going on about top 4. They haven't got a cat in hells chance and won't pick up 4 points from the next 3 games. I expect them to get annihilated again against Chelsea, maybe 3/4 V 0. Stoke away they will get beat in and they might fluke a win (more likely a draw) in the final game.

As for the notion of Stevie G being remembered for that header. He really won't be. Scoring a goal against a no mark side with 10 men will not be remembered. He will be remembered as the man who cost Liverpool the title and this season went missing in their key games. (United at Home and Villa in the cup). Also he was dropped when they played their big games in the champions league. A fitting end for a decent (but never world class0) player.

laughable. his final season will be remembered for that 30 second red card and the fact they lost a SF vs villa when the final would have been his birthday. no point in them trying to spin it any other way.

To be honest, don't think he could even stand upright and still in the same spot long enough for the Chelsea team to pass through. I love the way hes bigging Gerrard up today too.....when his own garrulous boss Rodgers had no shame in broadcasting the fact that that the crowd were shouting for him to be subbed before the penalty on Saturday. The Echo doesn't give up as well though with the hypocrisy.....maybe Aldo should add his name to the wall - though obviously p**sed up the wall in accordance with practice.

Rodgers once again wringing out the dishcloth dregs for another vanity project in the Echo. This time shamelessly trying to illicit some kudos for himself regarding Gerrard's penalty miss/then him scoring. He also manages to shoehorn in his daily reference to his team missing Suarezzzzz and take the credit for the winning goal by not substituting his skipper.

Rodgers: I knew Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard would be inspired rather than crushed by penalty miss

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/rodgers-knew-liverpool-captain-steven-9176391
....
Brendan Rodgers said Steven Gerrard was in “that small bracket” of players who he knew had the mentality to be inspired rather than crushed by his penalty miss against Queens Park Rangers.
“I have seen it so many times in games that I have been involved in and watched over the years. Players miss penalties at all levels and the player in question normally end up getting substituted because it affects him. Rodgers compared that huge desire to win with another recent Anfield superstar, Luis Suarez, whose absence from the Liverpool side has probably been the main factor why Saturday’s victory pushed them only to within four points of fourth place rather than any of the loftier seats at the Premier League table
He said: “It comes from within. You create a cause for players to fight for. It’s a small bracket of players who have that feeling of never being beaten.
“Boys like Steven and the Suarez’s of the world are never beaten. Suarez, away at Norwich last season, was through on goal and missed while one-on-one. But five seconds later he scored because he has that world class mentality.”

The Liverpool manager revealed that even before his penalty miss, some supporters behind him had been calling for the captain to be substituted but he never doubted Gerrard could have an impact.
“They were shouting for him to be taken off before the penalty but I know his mentality,” he said.

What was that about respect, class and dignity the other day, Brendan ? And....in your talisman skipper's penultimate home game.

just like RVP didn't get subbed after missing a pen on Saturday and Hazard didn't get subbed (until the 93rd minute) after missing on Sunday?

I found that strange, tbh. It's not like Brendan to go off message like that. Usually he bows down and defers to the supreme knowledge of the Kopites as the 'greatest supporters in football...the all knowing family unit we're all part of blah blah blah'. But that was a definite rattling of their cages as if to say 'what a shower of know nothing nobheads'.

I think the screw is turning and he's feeling the pressure. The diplomacy slipped on Saturday in a bit of petty point scoring...and you can be sure that the cult will have noted it.

Tick Tock.

I think their implosion you've referred to in the past is nigh in one way or another. I thought when I initially posted about his remarks #65885 that he'd allowed his innate vanity to well get the better of him and he'd be hoist by his own petard...though I havent seen any reaction RS wise. Maybe hes cheesed off with them chattering away in their little two faced cabals criticising him. His ego will be battered like a runaway hubcap before long....hopefully Sunday at The Bridge when, before he can sub him, his skipper gets his farewell red card for old times sake. Greedy aren't I.

Every Echo article he's in these days has scores of comments calling him fit to burn.

I think a Rubicon has been crossed with him, tbh. Only United failing to box off this last CL spot early has stopped outright wall to wall Kopite fumeageddon.
