ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I found that strange, tbh. It's not like Brendan to go off message like that. Usually he bows down and defers to the supreme knowledge of the Kopites as the 'greatest supporters in football...the all knowing family unit we're all part of blah blah blah'. But that was a definite rattling of their cages as if to say 'what a shower of know nothing nobheads'.

I think the screw is turning and he's feeling the pressure. The diplomacy slipped on Saturday in a bit of petty point scoring...and you can be sure that the cult will have noted it.

Tick Tock.

If he can get an 'I'm god' comment in there he doesn't care who he insults on his way to trying to make people think he is the greatest coach......I mean educator....that has ever lived.

Spot on this. There are some managers who'd have laughed off that plane. Alex Fergusan, Moyes, Mourinho, even a Sam Alardyce wouldn't be bothered. The problem is Rodgers vanity requires that he his loved even to the point that it stops him being successful. The changing of the system 4 times in the first half at Wembley is testament to this. He wants people to think he's a genius more than he wants to give them a chance of winning something.

The plain would have badly annoyed him. It's the exact sort of no mark pathetic small time stunt that has become synonymous with the airheads on the Kop but he won't be able to laugh it off. The fact they won means nothing to him, not when his ego is hurt.

Ferguson et al would have just laughed it off or ignored it, but he's rattled. There is a layer of fans who want him out and their momentum is growing. The moment 4th goes Mathematically (I fancy this weekend) he will be in for it. The fans will turn on each other. I'll be getting the popcorn ready.

The pressure is building. The Daily Express now having a pop at Rodgers transfers.

A great article. Sometimes you have to stand back and admire someone's work to really appreciate what they have done wrong. He's been there 3 years now and you generally start looking at what a "Rodgers team" would look like. In 3 years you've normally moved on a previous managers players and brought your own in.

I was discussing this with a Kopite yesterday and asked him, of the signings how many have proven to be good buys. There's only really Coutinho. He inherited some good players, your Rein's, Skirtl's, Aggers, Suarez etc but has moved most of them on and spent the money on duds. If you have him another 100 million I doubt very much he would buy top quality players.

The press is starting to turn on him. He blames the "committee" I am not sure how much of that is true. They bought awfully under Dalglish too. This metrics nonsense they have going for them doesn't work, so long may the Maths geeks from FSG keep trying to live out their fantasy.

The thing is though that the system does work, they are just not following it so much this season. Buying Sterling for 500k (or whatever it was) and then selling him for whatever idiot sum City are willing to pay makes sense. Buying the racist for £20 million and selling him for £75 million makes sense.

Spending the money earned on Rickie Lambert, Lallana when they already had Coutinho, Balotelli when they already had Sturridge and a host of underwhelming strikers already at the club, and Markovic when they already had Ibe didnt.

he can't attract them. he's not a big enough name, or more to the point he doesn't even shop for big names.

he got swansea up by getting players in as favours from previous clubs i.e. scott sinclair and fabio borini from chelsea, then when he got the prem he did the same thing - using his trusted former employees. wasted £3.5m on danny graham who he worked with at watford and then got siggurdson from reading.

he moves to liverpool brings allen with him, get's borini again, sturridge etc. last season came to a point where he couldn't do that anymore because his previous clubs were swansea, reading, watford and chelsea reserves and he was having to build a CL quality team. He then shopped at a team that finished 8th? in the premier league - i mean who thinks that that's going to help a CL season? he failed miserably in his first venture into the unknown.

no doubt in his next job he'll be buying a couple of liverpool cast offs from this current squad.

I'm warming to B-Rod.

It was never going to be long before he threw the fans under the bus mate.

Happy St. Gayle's Day everyone!

Koff Liverpool Football Club.

Dangerous game to play with that lot. They are typical cultists: posting bullets in the post can come very quickly after chanting their manager's name like a sacred mantra. History tells us that.

To be honest, don't think he could even stand upright and still in the same spot long enough for the Chelsea team to pass through. I love the way hes bigging Gerrard up today too.....when his own garrulous boss Rodgers had no shame in broadcasting the fact that that the crowd were shouting for him to be subbed before the penalty on Saturday. The Echo doesn't give up as well though with the hypocrisy.....maybe Aldo should add his name to the wall - though obviously p**sed up the wall in accordance with practice.
