Didn't Steven Gerrard once talk to the Sun for money. Or was that Carragher ?

As we all know, Liverpool Football Club is special. Different. Classy. Unique. Special. Unique. Classy. Unique. Iconic. Unique. Special. Unique. Clubby. Clubbish. Clubesque. Special. Unique. Increasingly irrelevant. Over the hill. Past-it. Yesterday’s news. Special. Unique. Iconic. Unique. Special. Special. Special. Unique. Liverpool Football Club are special. And unique. And special. And classy. They’re special and specially unique and uniquely specially and specially special and uniquely classy and they have a different way of doing things, you wouldn’t understand, you just wouldn’t, because you’re not special, or classy, or unique, you’re not Liverpool Football Club, and you wouldn’t understand, so don’t even bother, just accept it, they’re the best football team in the tra-la-la-la land.

Liverpool Football Club’s specialness and uniqueness and classiness naturally places them in a position to pat lesser clubs on the head and let them know of their place in the food chain. Clubs, say, like Southampton, who were browbeaten into selling Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren to mighty Liverpool last summer. “They have a choice as a club,” Liverpool’s head guru, Brendan Rodgers, roared last August. “They don’t have to sell. You have a choice. Maybe Southampton’s objectives have changed. They were looking to be a [Big Cup] club, I believe. They obviously wanted to change. There might be one or two others who leave. It’s just the way it works.” It’s. Just. The. Way. It. Works.

Words to live by. Poetry in motion that comes to mind now that Raheem Sterling is busy letting Liverpool know that the way it works is that he would like to leave in the summer, maybe join a bigger club, play for a team who actually have a chance of winning something in the near future, that there’s only so many times he can hear about the Miraculous Miracle of Istanbul before he’s forced to go all Van Gogh on his ears.

Treason! Naturally Sterling’s desire to play for a good team has been met with fury and The Fiver assumes he has spent the day locked in Melwood’s Re-education Chamber, a crack team of Phil Thompson, John Bishop and John Aldridge taking it in turns to hammer home the uniqueness and specialness and classiness of Liverpool Football Club, making sure Sterling knows that he will forever walk alone if he joins Manchester City, a terrifying prospect indeed. It’s just the way it works.

*crying and shaking here.........

You really ought to read the comments here. Disgusting.

All the RS scum in the media have been bullying a 19 year old into staying - yet they use the tactic beloved of paedophiles: DARVO - deny and reverse victim and offender.

It's like leaving the Scientologists.

Class & Dignity? More like filth and vermin.

Pity they can't be wiped out. They are a sh*t stain on our city.

liverpool football cult have not handled this very well have they? they've all frothed at the mouth and spouted their bitterness within hours. couldn't they have at least entered the possibility of trying to convince him to stay and then lose it if he did left.

not a brain cell in that club.

we had the rumours about mirallas this season. you didn't see every former everton player jump straight into the media and tell him to shut his gob, tell him to leave, say he's crap etc.

Because deep down they know they are not good enough to hang on to players, even those of Sterlings potential/quality. They've slowly realised this, and now instead of actually doing what a big thinking club would (think Rooney at Utd, sewer rat with his move to Arsenal or even Bale at Spurs first time round). Ratboy leaving has shown them as the mid-tier team they are like the rest, and they are having a hissy fit and doing the whole "never fancied her anyway" act.

Barrett is a lightening rod for their fans, so FSG would best be concerned with that.

All along their strategy has been to get in and secure two goals: CL football and a stadium solution...and then sell up for a billion. Part of that strategy has also been to keep the fanbase from doing what they did to H&G, which they've so far done with huge spending on fees. If that's now being called into question (and the wages paid to top playerrs) then they really are facing a crisis down the barrel.

In my opinion, they need to get Rodgers (who cant use the cash wisely) out and take another chance on the managerial front to see if they come up trumps.

Yes that strategy is failing at the seams. Their plan was based on American Sport and every year that goes by shows them up further.

I happen to agree with you, supporter unrest is always feared by owners. Kopites particularly so, they are remarkably well organised and have a huge sense of entitlement. The voices of discontent are growing and I can see another crisis like the one that existed when Hicks and Gillette were at the end developing.

Just heard a brief extract on the radio from Rodgers at their Awards last night. His default mode is permanently damage limitation since his dinghy started to deflate...referring to "all the distractions" the club had faced. Covers all bases there he probably thinks...apart from his part in making poor purchases... the mis-handling of Gerrard, their ever fragile sensitive hardknock talisman, so he left with a titty lip and cavalcade of self promotion...this Sterling mess - where he makes him out to be a superstar, plays him as a lone striker, then pays him 85k a week less than his rarely played fullback. Tony Barrett's piece in todays Times headlines this review with the FSG guy as a "crisis summit". They love their drama don't they.

it all came tumbling.webp

I honestly believe there are plenty in the media who share the dislike of the influence they seem to have as much a most football fans do. And some who have been made aware of what, until recently, had been a gripe of maybe a handful of other clubs.

The BBC in particular do seem pretty much a Liverpool free zone these days. Green is pretty much part time, Lawro will be out the door soon, (and I actually dont mind him that much; straight choice for him would always go with Preston anyrate), but MOTD and MOTD 2 are largely kopite free. Same with Football Focus, MOTD Extra, and 5 Live.

With Neville, Kilbane and Keown, there's actually a healthy ex-Everton presence these days at the BBC

They even have Joey Barton on occasionally as well, who makes no secret of being a blue

Could the tide be turning? (Probably not, but nice to see some blues on the telly for once)

This is one of the most creative conspiracy stories I've ever read, presumably total fiction.

http://www.blindreligion.com/fsg-sack-rodgers/
However there’s a massively more shocking story coming out of Liverpool today and the revelations will blow Liverpool’s fans minds. Two very sources have alleged the following.

- Brendan Rodgers was sacked last November. He will face the same indignity as Kenny Dalglish having to fly to the U.S and receive his p45 Wednesday 3rd June 2015
- FSG had a crisis meeting last year and blamed themselves for not having a contingency plan for this season going so badly
- With so many new signings having loyalty to Rodgers and senior players like Gerrard, Toure and Johnson having excellent relationships it was decided the sacking couldn’t take place until they had left
- Gerrard’s influence in the dressing room became a big worry for FSG and his position amongst supporters and it was decided he would have to leave

- FSG have been sounding out replacements for Rodgers since last year
- From November on there has been a transfer ban which led to no January activity and pulling out of the race to sign Depay late on
- FSG have been using the press to leak stories about reported interest in Rodgers transfer targets with no intention of signing them to keep Rodgers in the dark
- Liverpool are already identifying a different set of targets that Rodgers has not approved and is unaware are even being discussed

- Klopp has refused to speak with FSG until the season is over and said he will not allow his team to be distracted with a Cup Final approaching
- However his agent has been in discussion with LFC for months and has already provided a list of targets
- Feeling inside Anfield recent slump is because the players and the staff know the writing is on the wall for Rodgers

- FSG deliberately sabotaged the Sterling deal. The offer was nothing like £100,000 per week and even with potential bonus incentives did not reach that figure.
- FSG are aware changing manager is expensive and agreed last November to sell Sterling to find the new managers spending spree though they hadn’t identified manager at that time
- Rodgers recently had a furious exchange with a staff member when in front of the players his methods were questioned
- FSG did not attend Steven Gerrard’s last game out of a lack of respect for Gerrard but simply because Rodgers has made it clear he is looking to speak to them face to face as he is aware there are two agendas being pushed at Anfield.

It all makes sense now!

Larouche, Larouche!!!!!!!

Gerrard quoted in The Echo's piece on their Awards last night

“People keep trying to get me to cry before I leave, I’ve had to do that many speeches,” Gerrard said.

“But I’m bored of speaking about myself“

"I’ve been a bit embarrassed with all the attention. It’s been all about me and I don’t like it that way. I want it to be back on the team."

Don't worry Ste....youll get your own way with that over in L.A. when they think youre a foreigner who cant speak English.

I'd like to think that that is true but I still see Neville as United, Keown as Arsenal and Kilbane has had so many clubs even he isn't sure,
