ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

He'll stay, but for how long? My guess is he's prepared to ride things out (we all know how hard faced he is) and then get FSG to fire him to trigger his compensation package.

Barring a miracle, I cant see any way out of this for Rodgers...not even in the short term (next 4-6 months).

Oh yeah, I agree entirely.

When I said he'd stay, I meant he wont resign.

He's the head coach, the fella raked a pittance in as a player, and earned £3000 per month as Jose's cone layer. The Swansea promotion probably made him as rich as he'd ever been.

It's not surprising he sold out his principles to LFC. It made him a multi-millionaire and he finally got rid of the fat ugly wife and the pesky rapist boy.

Mentally, Rodgers will have gone past the point of no return, unless he really is stupid. He knows the fans wanted him out and that FSG don't trust him. His concern, as you say, is now all about how does he get a payoff and try to retain some kind of credibility. He should have walked and at least shown himself to be a man of principle, he will now be seen as a weak manager with a 'throw anybody under the bus' yellow streak...........

Strategically - if he was confident of his own ability to snag a top job again, one in a decent PL club, that is - that's what he should have done. He'd make the cash he'd forfeited by walking out elsewhere within a few years at that level.

However, I'm guessing he's made the calculation that this is a massive pay day he'd be walking out on here. Dalglish hit the jackpot with a multi million pound compo package. He's been financially prudent I believe. He'd be right to think his stock as a manager of a good sized club is in the toilet and he's made the decision to hang around beyond his staff being fired in order to secure his small fortune.

There's no way back now though. Once the cult turn on you, you are finished.

FSG's next phase of operation Colgate should be great viewing if rumours are true of Bentiez's ex mate being parachuted in as Brodgers assistant.

I can picture it now, come December Brendan will be sitting further back in the dugout hierarchy than the reserve goalkeeper and the new guy will be in the technical area screaming out orders. Then Brendan will be wheeled out for post match apologies and excuses.

He'll probably lose his parking space to the new fella within the first few days and not even put up a fight. In no time at all he be packing up his desk pictures of him standing in the background of various Mourinho celebration shots and be moving down a few floors to a broom cupboard that's not been opened since Roy Evans was banished to the annals of history.

Not strictly true

They turned wholesale on Gerrard during that Chelsea thing before he decided to stay with them, at which point they all loved him again

Gerrard was a proven winner who was capable of winning them over again with his performances. That's not something that can be said about the no mark.

Would we be happy if we brought ings in ? Does anyone rate him ?
i do mate, been saying for the past 12 months or more we should have been in for him even before his contract was up. this is the lad who replaced austin and proceeded to bang them in for Burnley to send them up.

He has a bright future, but for the time being now i hope he doesnt fulfil his potential

Round of applause for Levy too for throwing thta bid in the other week fir Ings, should mean the shi#e have to pay even more for him

plenty of things to laugh at them about but signing milner and ings for a combined total of around 6m isnt one of them.

Ings fee hasn't been agreed as yet....a tribunal might hit the RS in the pocket if FGS try and play hardball. Milner will steady their rocky midfield but he should be doing a lot more than that for 150 grand a week.
