Anyone else think Spurs may have pulled a fast one on Norway here, bidding 12 mill for Ings, surely that's going to mean they get nailed at tribunal.

Well in Daniel, next trick, Tripier to Spurs.

can a team pull out of a transfer after finding out the tribunal fee? surely they can?

the thing is, if you look at their squad especially with sturridge injured for the most of it - they've overachieved with 5th and an FA Cup semi. it's just the fact that it cost them £150m to do it which has caused the mass exodus. they're stuck with that average squad now, striking off the whole management team isn't going to solve anything.

Strategically - if he was confident of his own ability to snag a top job again, one in a decent PL club, that is - that's what he should have done. He'd make the cash he'd forfeited by walking out elsewhere within a few years at that level.

However, I'm guessing he's made the calculation that this is a massive pay day he'd be walking out on here. Dalglish hit the jackpot with a multi million pound compo package. He's been financially prudent I believe. He'd be right to think his stock as a manager of a good sized club is in the toilet and he's made the decision to hang around beyond his staff being fired in order to secure his small fortune.

There's no way back now though. Once the cult turn on you, you are finished.

I generally dislike the deluded, brain-dead, overly sentimental Liverpool fans a lot more than I dislike the Liverpool players or managers...and Rodgers is a lot more appealing than Rafael was with his Everton-small club schtick.

Rodgers clearly is a bit of a tool with his Brentisms and his habit of saying everything is 'outstanding' - but I think managing Liverpool must be one of the hardest jobs in British sport along with England cricket captain (esp in the 90s) and England manager. I think Rodgers knows that this is the best job he will ever get, no-way will the CL clubs take him on, so he's being sensible with the payoff

Anyway, the longer he stays and the longer a Klopp/Pep/Ancelotti stay away then the better for us, as their stock will surely plummet further

No way anywhere near 10m tho.

I can see 2m TOPS.

......not sure how much his bunce will be, my thinking is between £3m-£4m. Regardless, the lack of a transfer fee clearly means much of the monies will be going to Milner and his agent. By the way, Cleverley will be receiving a handsome signing fee from us just as whoever gets Garbutt will have to do the same.

Outstanding.

Milner good but not brilliant
Ings not bad but not Big League stuff let's be honest.

Maybe they've set their sights a bit lower - most particularly on getting ANYONE in to replace the deadwood they bought not so long ago.
