ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Clever by Koeman this, slowly moving his players on to Liverpool, getting massive wedge for his club before taking the Liverpool role around xmas time.

you just know he'll be the top target - the media choice so to speak - just like pochettino at spurs. one fairly decent season but praised to the hills - the ironic thing is that koeman managed to attract bigger names to soton than liverpool can attract from soton.

bullets and faeces in the post for him then

From that link......

"Liverpool sent Aspas on loan to Sevilla for 2014-15, with the Spanish club obliged to make the deal permanent for €7 million (£5m) at the end of the campaign"

Obliged? WTAF?

Clyne and Benteke on their way in

Rogers is actually having a good window, much as it pains me to say so

I don't think Rodgers is involved at all, I doubt they have much trust in him after last summer.

Also, like last summer they are bringing in a lot of players and that is a dangerous game regardless of the ability they have shown in the past. 15/16 players over two summers is madness.

So £50M spent already.

That's a cool £300M soft arse has spent since he's been there.

7th, 2nd, 6th and no cups.

That has to be the worst payback in terms of cost-benefit in PL history.

No wonder the Kopites are looking for the no mark's head on a plate.

That can't be right, afterall they "can't compete" to win trophies and they are "doing it a different way" compared to the "money clubs". Those figures must be wrong.

They are buying loads of world class youngsters who will win them the league in 2017. You know like Lambert, Toure, Balotelli, Milner, Bogdan etc.
Or maybe they mean their under 18's "bursting to the seams with talent" who got annihilated 5-0 to our under 18's?

On a serious note they player they desperately needed was a regular goal scorer. In every other area they were ok last season. By ok I mean, ha they have had a lad who got them 20 goals they'd have probably finished 4th. In spite of signing 7 people, and spending a fortune they have yet to rectify that problem. Is Milner any better than Henderson or Can/Lallana? Is Firmino any better than Sterling or Coutinho? Is Clyne any better than Ibe or Flannagan? IS Ings any better than Lambert? They are not bad players, they are just adding more depth to an already bloated squad.

They can only play 11. For all their depth they still don't have a regular 20 goal a season man which is what they were missing. Brent and his committee resemble 14 year olds playing football manager with their transfer policy.

They must surely understand that though?

Maybe they're adjusting their expectations for this season and will use it as a chance to bed all the newbies in?

they've been doing that the last 5 seasons though - buying a mass of players and trying to bed them in. i thought last summer was buying young and building for the future? have they given up after one summer?

As soon as I seen Firmino's stats my first thought was that this cant be the end of the spending upfront. Sturridge will never make it back as a fit player they can trust to turn up week in, week out. Origi? No chance. Their problem is that if they couldn't get a top notch clinical finisher last summer when they had CL footy to offer then they've got no chance now.

Dalglish plucked Suarez out of the Dutch League and gave him a chance. He knew what he was doing. Rodgers either isn't strong enough to impose himself on LFC's transfer activity, or if he is he's not able to see a diamond in the rough.

They're stumbling around in the dark now completely lost.

If Benteke signs and him and that Firminio lad work well together, they'll be a force up front next season

They'll just need to sort the defence out
They're changing their system/style of play every six months, changing their playing staff annually, keeping reserves of players that can't be kept happy, and spending loads of dosh in doing so. As you say their defence is crap, there's no more Gerrard, and Sterling will be gone soon. Not convinced this can end well.

Benteke is a very good striker, but he just won't fit their system, in the same way Lambert and Balotelli didn't, he's completely the wrong signing for them. Thank the Lord they've seemingly walked away from Bacca, as I think he'd have been a much better fit.

I agree and when you factor in that even when they had to all intents and purposes their perfect team... with their Suarez, Gerrard, Sturridge etc, their manager still stuffed it up with his guileless tactical ineptitude. Nothing makes me think it will change regardless of their raft of golden bollocks newcomers.
