Well no, but they will be left again with a whole host of players, strangely too many players if such a thing exists. Under Moyes we often did better with a smaller squad. Mourinho has scaled back Chelsea's squad. Having too many players, who will never get a look in drags the mood down. They are going to have to move out 5 or 6 just to stand still, and a lot of the new lads they've brought in need time to settle. This panic stricken spending may sound good and get the fans on board, but it is rarely an effective way to build a successful team.
Dalglish either got extremely lucky, or is an under appreciated genius re Suarez. I know which one I think it was. He is the one signing in that bracket who has come off for them. Their approach appears to be, that if they keep buying players for that much money eventually they will stumble upon another Suarez. I can't see it happening.
The more I read about Firmino the more impressed I am with him. He is aggressive and feisty and makes goals. However I am not sure he's much better than Coutinho or Sterling.
Compare their approach to Mourinho's over the last 18 months. Mourinho has offloaded potentially good players but fringe players. Lukaku, Marin, De Bruyne, Lampard alongside moving on poor players well, (Ba, Mikel, Drogba). He has added a key defensive midfielder (Matic) a creative midfielder (Fabregas) and a Striker (Costa). That is proper recruitment. Identify what you need and go and sign the player. All I can get from Rodgers is he has no idea what he wants. This then reflects itself on the pitch, as he doesn't seem to know how to use the players he buys.
