Lawrenson was shocked by the lack of atmosphere inside the famous old stadium, which he believes reflects the current discontent.
He said: "The fans are now apathetic in all honesty. They just sat there against Carlisle. They hardly clapped or cheered. They just watched.
"Normally Anfield is lively, electric, lots of shouting. There was absolutely nothing. It was sterile."
He added: "In a classy way the Liverpool fans showed that they thought what they were watching was unacceptable because it was the quietest I've ever known Anfield, apart from those Carlisle fans.
Cant help it can they?
Their own supporters have commented for years now that their home crowd is quiet and inanimate...and certainly not as Lawrenson generalises "lively electric, with lots of shouting". Perhaps he fell asleep with the serenity around him because Tony Barrett didn't see it that way in The Times....(http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/sport/football/clubs/liverpool/article4566388.ece)
"Although Liverpool denied reports that they have made an approach for Ancelotti, their performance against Carlisle will inevitably lead to heightened speculation about Rodgers’s position, with his fate now resting in the hands of Fenway Sports Group, the club’s owner, which is likely to take a dim view of his team’s continuing struggles
If its thinking is affected by the mood of the Liverpool fans, who booed their own team on three separate occasions during the course of last night’s tie, Rodgers’s hold on his job will be looser than at any time during his three-year tenure."
Hes got a strange interpretation of class...and more to the point, quietness and apathy if he thought that the cult had booed quietly. Hes a Kopite Gob**ite straight out of central casting.
