ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Driving home from Cornwall today, Manure v Slumberland was on the radio and what a snooze fest that sounded. De Gea made more saves than Pantilimon but somehow they score three and top the table with the commentators raving about Chris Smalling... what's that all about ?

chris smalling is possibly my player of the season so far. alongside stones i must add with unbiased glasses - defenders never get as much recognition but he's been top class. then again, they haven't had any testing games yet.

Sturridge: he relies on a selfless partner upfront. Ings might be a foil for him in that respect, but there's going to be pressure to play Benteke who's not doing that for anyone.

It sounds like you're just basing this off the first 3 games of the season. Man City won't be steamrolling teams for the entire season, they'll have their blip. Chelsea will be there or thereabouts. Arsenal are eventually going to settle into a rhythm and have a good run of dismantling teams. Man United will be crap but will make the top 4 and nobody will know how.

Just saying.

Give Sturridge the ball in and around the box and he'll scored goals. His major problem obviously is his injuries and it's the fact that you can't rely on him to play in at least 20 games a season that he's not a regular striker for teams regularly challenging for the league.

His mere presence will buy Brenda more time as he will get the goals, but it's a shame he's back for the derby. I'd much prefer Benteke to be playing against us, but the rest of their team is still pretty turd. Keep the ball away from Sturridge next week and we can win.

Laughing at Oliver Holt acting the apologist for Brendan Rodgers on MOTD2 and citing the RS Transfer Committee as as an excuse. Querying whether Balotelli was one of his buys though suggests he needs to gen up on as Gerrard has only recently criticised Rodgers going for him in his book (as serialised in Holt's very own new sister paper, The Mail)

Rodgers thinks people outside the club want to get rid of him on an agenda. No mate, people outside the club want you to stay!

If you look at the past 3 years, rodgers has actually not achieved anything of note really. suarez carried them to second even them lot would admit that. But other than that bar stirling who was on the cusp of the team when he arrived ala barkley here, he hasn't won anything, developed any player nor progressed the club league wise.

at least martinez is developing something here and it seems to be working. how many young players has he signed or backed in our team so far? that's a success right there for a club 20 years without a trophy!
