ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Never like to see any player with a cruciate injury and Liverpool have had bad luck the last week.

The tribunal still haven't met to decide a fee that they need to pay for him, wonder whether his injury, his full England cap or Spurs high offer will be taken into account.

Can't see how the tribunal can justifiably take into account this injury when they decided on the fee. The move happened months ago and should have no bearing to his value when he swapped clubs. It's not as if Liverpool could renegotiate his contract now in retrospect, which is of course the main reason a player runs down their contract to their own advantage and the detriment to his old club.

"Liverpool striker Danny Ings has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury.

Ings, 23, who made his England debut in the Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania on Monday, suffered a cruciate ligament injury in training."

Seems like this gegenpress thing is working well so far

Cue the guy who's score 2-3 goals in 3 months being lauded as a world class talent. He's a poor mans Steven Naismith and will eventually re-find his level, playing for a Burnley or a Rochdale.

And before you gobshite lurkers start posting this up on RAWK, yes I am aware Ings scored a 3 yard tap in against us. That says more about our goalkeeper than your striker.

Gomes and Ings both down over the past few days and both with serious ACL injuries, Christ bad luck and a half that is, like i have said before wouldn't wish it on anyone and hope both can come back from them, although got to figure that both have a huge uphill battle ahead of them now
Agree, especially in view of the LC and UEFA league matches they have - the RS that is

Dave.......here is a wider view of that picture.

Check out the Orwellian type propaganda slogan writ large on the wall.....

Hahahahaha.....our song's better than your song......sad isn't it.....Is that it, is that all they've now got.......

The injury shouldn't be factored into it at all, he was fit when signed and injured whilst a Liverpool player, so Burnley can't be punished financially for that, the England cap shouldn't factor in either as it happened after he was already a Liverpool player - although those things may factor in the minds of the tribunal (although they shouldn't), the Spurs offer should and will be taken into account as it reflect the value of the player and what another team was fully wiling to pay for him - thus is the benchmark of an estimation they will use i guess
Agree on both the injury and Spurs offer but iirc think Garbutt's tribunal fee had a clause in it that we had to pay a future extra payment if he got capped and a further one if he got several caps.

I think anything that happens after a player signs for the new club is disregarded in tribunals, not 100% though.

Then it could well be a weird situation that they state the tribunal fee with clauses and some of those clauses are instantly activated - such as International cap fee etc LL

Guardian helpfully used Garbutt in an article about what Ings price may be

To give a fairly recent example, Luke Garbutt cost Everton £600,000 when he joined from Leeds United in 2009. That figure was set by tribunal and paid to the Yorkshire club immediately, though the tribunal also stipulated an extra payment of £750,000, paid in increments of £150,000 each time the player passed the landmarks of five, 10, 20, 30 and 40 first team appearances.

There is also a payment of £200,000 due should the left-back win a senior England cap. After spending time in Everton’s youth teams and going out to Colchester on loan, Garbutt is now finally making his mark in the first team, so Leeds are likely to be picking up money all through this season.
