Just had some Kopite mouthing off on FB about how we only sold the full allocation for the Cup Replay because we had free coach travel. 6200 fans and only 50 free coaches, doesn't quite work does it....

I think the lad came in full of confidence and certainty in his own ability. I'm not wild about that because I don't think he's paid his dues yet – Watford, Reading, Swansea -ffs!

I don't think Allen and Borini were good value buys – Borini for me hasn't shown any more than Ngog, whose value is closer to £1m than £10m. Allen is tidy, but so is Henderson, another £16m player. Put Downing in central mid and he could shield it and play square balls all game too. He knows he's got nothing to lose by playing the teenagers – no-one's going to say he should be starting Cole and Downing but we shouldn't forget that Rodgers chose to keep them in his squad for this season.

A decent assessment of the situation from a RAWK member. Shocked.

An old RAWK one

Joe Cole of Liverpool. Does that sound good?

Cole’s arrival at Liverpool on a Bosman is, and will remain, the British transfer coup of the summer. Already it has given the supporters a terrific psychological boost and it’s also put a couple of our rivals on the back foot. At a time when the football press was predicting a stampede of star players out of Anfield, and when the semi-criminal ownership was haemorrhaging £100,000-a-day to the banks, there was enormous symbolic value in the fact that we captured Cole, not Arsenal or Tottenham or Man Utd. Even though we are seriously ill and even though we could not hope to match his initial wage demand, Joe Cole chose us.

I don’t know anyone in Red who wasn’t lifted by that. I live in London and so inevitably have friends who support Arsenal and Tottenham. You could still see the shock on their faces a day or so afterwards. “I thought you were deadâ€, said one mate who’d become used to hearing my pirate stories about Gillett and Hicks. “Half-deadâ€, I replied. But even the semi-corpse of Liverpool Football Club was more seductive to Joe than the sprightly North London duo. Yes, he chose us and it was a fine thing.

But is he what we need? What can Joe Cole bring to Liverpool? Is he the real thing or is he just an ornament? I think he’s the real thing. In fact Cole is the player I expected Rafael to sign when he first arrived, except his name was Pablo Aimar then.

Another gem from that linked thread

It wasn't just Suarez's 9 game ban up until Ferguson slandered Suarez he was on fire he had played 6 League games up until United and scored in 4 of them. After Ferguson's he dives all over the place nonsense Suarez Scored 1 League goal in 4 months.

Suarez's lack of form in the 2nd half of last season was Ferguson's fault, apparently. At least Lovable Luis has given the lie to the "he dives all over the place nonsense" this season, take THAT Fergie.
