Deffo agree he'll want the money now, I reckon the ****e will have to cough up a lot more than they bargained for to keep him tho. Downing's on 60K a week not to mention Joe Cole...isn't he on something like 120K a week
The lad made noises to move when he wasn't playing so you can imagine he and his people aren't shrinking violets when it comes to negotiations . To be totally fair to him he's a regular , he's in the England squad , he's identified by Rodgers as one of their most 'influential' players and he's earning about what 1.6% of Joe Coles wages ? Why wouldn't you want more , you'd be crazy not to, this lad might never have his stock as high as it is today and his people need to maximise his earnings.
The problem they have across the park is that there are certainly teams that'll pay top end wages , the lad is young and may well have no established connection (apart from his 27 kids) with the city and look at moving down sarf and most importantly they aren't exactly pulling up trees so maybe some big teams offers could prove tempting. Given the hype and admittedly a litte bit of promise what do you do ? Play hardball and risk losing him or give in and potentially get lumbered with a lad whose career may stagnate on huge wages ? This is where chief execs earn their dough and fortunately LFC's have seemed to be pretty sh@te in recent years so fingers crossed.

If they do end up having to give him top dollar to stay tho, let's hope it scuppers any plans brenda may have had in the next few windows. That said, his record up to now identifying talent hasn't been that great...Borini, Allen, so it may save him pissing a bit more up the wall to be fair. Btw sheeds have you heard anything about them shipping Reina out to raise cash for transfers??

Sickening really when you think that there are kids much the same age, lying in dusty fields and irrigation ditches in Afghanistan, risking their lives and limbs on a daily basis for £15,000 a year.
Know what, I hope all this potential fizzles out and he ends up utter dog sh*t, working two jobs for minimum wage to try and support his growing army of bastards.

You can't necessarily believe the reports on figures mate look at the rubbish spouted about anichebethat although apparently untrue still haunts him. However if you were sterling with the circumstances as they are you'd be mental not to try and earn a right few quid wouldn't you ?

I'm a huge advocate of salary caps, I think there's too many flash in the pans out there earning more in a week then most people earn in a year or two.

Their transfer negotiations and dealings under Dalglish & Comolli where for all to see clearly laughable but I'm told behind the scenes they were actually worse . with the Henderson offer and subsequent transfer the source of much amusement to those involved , a enquiry and then offer of the first price demanded bless them they seemed clueless . Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch. Buck Rodgers doesn't seem any better at it than Captain Demento either, £15m for Allen was insane. You've got to wonder how much he's on a week as well.
