ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

A quick word on the whole "Wools, Boo" theme that's revealing itself in this thread to a certain extent

It'll be interesting seeing the reaction I get with my thoroughly non scouse accent if we ever start winning things again

At the moment people don't really mind because, of all the reasons to support Everton, it clearly isn't for the glory

If we start getting some success though, I think that may change a bit, especially if I attend big games like Finals and Semi Finals at the expense of Scousers (It won't matter that I pay for my season ticket, love the Blues and acquire my ticket fairly and above board, some will see it as me taking away a slot from someone local who 'deserves' it more than I do)

The fact I grew up a 45 minute drive from the city and have sat through relegation battles and the horror that was Walter's reign, won't mean much in the heat of the moment to some people

It does worry me. I hope as a fan base we can be more tolerant of out of towners

At the end of the day, if you're a big club like Everton, it's only natural that people from all over the world will want to support you. Just look at all the Scots, Irish, Welsh, American and Australian supporters we have on the very forum for starters. We should embrace that more I think. Clubs like Man United and Liverpool take pride in being globally popular, maybe it's time we start seeing the positives of being a global brand instead of dwelling on the negatives?

4 decades of being at Everton games and I have never seenor heard any animosity towards someone for being a wool or an outsider.

If they're a knob head, that's a different thing :)

Chill your beans there's no witch hunt ;)

I think I read somewhere that Klopp has lost his last 5 finals.
This will become physiological with them (if it hasn't already) and I think it will be a long time before we see them lift a trophy again.
Hope it's longer than what we've waited.

Think it comes down to meeting better managers on the day as his tactics can be worked out by decent managers.

Correct. As a Northern Irishman I get over to game as often as I can and not once have I had any trouble in any way. I've been bought pints, lunch and even met up with fans for a few scoops at night. Never been accused of being a blow-in etc.

Reaction, Mikey that'll never happen my friend, certainly not near me or anyone that I know who goes the game.
I'd go mad if I heard any Scousers giving other Evertonians grief because they're from out of town.
You're a blue as much as me.

Let's be honest if someone wanted to 'blow-in' then I'm sure they wouldn't pick us :)

Not rsed where people are from as long as they're an Evertonian, act like an Evertonian and above all else passionately, willingly and undeniably hate that other shower of self gratifying, deluded whiffs across the park ;)

One thing our support (wherever they may hail from) absolutely cannot be accused of is "Glory hunting". FFS, given the amount of anguish and stress this club have given me down the years as a "local lad", it is mystfying as to why people not native to the city would choose to follow EFC.

So you gotta respect that. To have belief and pride in our great old club is a remarkable character trait.

Conversely, as mentioned above, it takes a certain kind of spineless sheep to follow "de red men" if you are from outside the city limits. How many "fans" did they gain after May 2005?

And how many will say, Leicester have next season?

I particularly loved the million people lining the streets after their spawn in Instanbul, from a city, genuinely, predominantly blue, of 400 thousand....hmmm

Just been speaking to me arl fella. He's off to Old Swan. Told him about fanta scruff. He knows what to do if he sees him - even though me arl fella's a dirty red as well ;)
Heard today off a good source that Fantascruff is actually a psychiatric nurse at Ashworth Hospital.... could be wrong but he was convinced.
