ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

You know which Everton fans I admire the most are those who are under say 20 years of age.
I'm old enough to remember the 80's when we won trophys, these people don't.
Yet they have still fallen in love with Everton and attend Goodison week after week.
The kopites don't quite understand how Everton can be loved so much, even by us older folk when we haven't won anything for so long.
They call us bitter when nothing could be further from the truth, in fact I'd say a lot of them are bitter towards us for the love we have for our club. They have an insane jealousy of something they don't understand and never will. Something they can't quite comprehend.

There is some magic ingredient in the fabric of Everton, I can't quite put my finger on it but it's there.

To be fair I think it was harder supporting us when I was growing up. I was born in 1970. They won the league and the European Cup every blooming year, and we won nothing until I was nearly 14. Merciless ribbing, not just from their fans, but from Emlyn Hughes and Phil Thompson as well!!! I was a hero to stay a blue lol

I know exactly what you mean, I was born a couple of years after yourself. But because of there success through the 70's and early 80's a lot of kids actually went against there family's/dad's and supported that shower as it was just easier to be a glory hunter. I went to an all boys school and distinctly remember doing games, there where 30 kids in our class yet 4 of us had everton tops on against 26 reds. I still occasionally bump into the other 3 sound lads going to the everton match. Although other blerts from school that I still know have never bothered attending snake mountain, just sending the occasional text mocking everton when there sad sack missus lets them go the pub with a tenner in their pocket and a full kit kit on for a whole 90 minutes.

In fairness mate they have had a heroic season. Their honours include;
1) Fa Cup semi final winners (watching their favourite other team United beat Everton brought enormous celebration).
2) The West Brom lap of honour trophy. A home draw to West Brom clinched that.
3) The 8th placed trophy (allows them into the never defined "big 8".

That treble puts them leagues ahead of Everton. They have won a whole 1 league cup more than us in the last decade. Heroic treble winners, leagues ahead of ahead. Massive club. European Royalty. Them, Real Madrid and Barca. Athletico Madrid & Bayern look on at their successes enviously. We'll never know what that's liked. Massive club.

The 8th place was a deliberate ploy.........must have been because ......

"Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool’s lack of European football will give the Reds a distinct advantage in the race for Champions League places next season.

The Reds legend has tipped Jurgen Klopp’s team, along with Chelsea, to fight for a top four place next term - despite an eighth-placed finish in the Premier League this term.

“A big thing for Chelsea and Liverpool, an advantage for them, is no European football,” he told TalkSport

“It might be a bit much for Liverpool going for the title, but they will certainly be looking at the top four.

So there cunning ploy to finish in Europe was not finishing in Europe?

Exactly, though perhaps not so cunning as they thought.......As Chelsea and ourselves managed exactly the same just by acknowledging we were crap......

They really are a disgrace, they cost their fans tens of pounds on wasted half pints of lager up and down the country on Thursdays this year. They could've stayed at home where their mums could've made cups of teas for them.

That price is simply ridiculous.

He was rated 2nd best keeper in the Bundesliga recently and is 22 and they got him for a pittance.

Bundesliga is real value for money, some absolute talent there right now for alot cheaper than the "English premium".

I bet Timo Horn could be got for about 7-8 million.

This season i think in the top 8 there. Quality keeper for a mainz team but not a patch on bernd leno.

surprised klopp went for him rather than leno.

Liverpool have been fined by UEFA for their fans setting off fireworks.
Liverpool have been fined £8,400 by UEFA for their fans letting off fireworks in their Europa League quarter-final against Borussia Dortmund.

The decision was made by the control, ethics and disciplinary body and is the second punishment handed out to the Reds this week.

On Tuesday they were fined £35,000 - half of which was suspended for a two-year probationary period - for illicit chanting by supporters during April's two-legged Europa League clash against Manchester United, who were also hit with a similar penalty.

There was a further fine of £13,000 for the offences of setting off of fireworks, throwing of objects, crowd disturbances and a late kick-off.

Liverpool still have disciplinary charges outstanding in relation to more fireworks offences and crowd disturbances relating to last week's Europa League final against Sevilla.

What a benchmark...

let's be honest, he's not half wrong. won't happen, but i'd absolutely love it if they did sack sakho. Suarez proved how he'd become bigger than them, i would laugh my tits off and never forget the time they actually became smaller than one footballer.

but then they'd qualify for the champions league, not be good enough and get eliminated, all whilst it would impact their league form which would then not see them qualify for europe for the next season and it will be a revolving 3 year cycle.

actually, that's been the case the last 6 seasons hasn't it? i'm sure carragher said this a couple of years back anyway.
