Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard insists there is currently 'no job opportunity' for him at the club despite being in contact with manager Jurgen Klopp.
The 36-year-old midfielder is into the final six months of his contract with Los Angeles Galaxy and accepts his playing days are numbered.
And while there has been much speculation about him linking up with his former club in some capacity, nothing is in the pipeline at the moment.
'People need to understand that Jurgen Klopp is his own man, he's got his own team of people around him, that he is very happy and content with,' Gerrard exclusively told virtual reality company Laduma.
'Of course I've got a huge Liverpool connection and Liverpool is in my heart and always will be but there's nothing to really comment on.
'There's no future decision to work with Klopp, I get on really well with him, we're in contact but there's no job opportunity there at the moment.
'There is absolutely nothing to say on my future beyond this MLS season at the moment
.

He doesnt give up does he - as far as I know, hes the only one who ever talks about it. Maybe hes after another photo opportunity at Melwood....he'll be taking his dog in there soon like David Brent did after he got the poke from 'The Office'.

Poor old Slippy, gone but also forgotten.......

I wouldn't say they have bought average,if anything they have upgraded in positions this summer.

Karius was voted 2nd best keeper in the Bundesliga players poll last season and in the same poll Matip was voted as the best CB and made the Players,Bild and Kicker Bundesliga teams of the season, quite a coup getting him on a Bosman. With Karius Matip and Mane they have upgraded on Mignolet Skrtel and Lallana.

Looks like Wijnaldum has been taken off the Newcastle pre season tour,if they buy him they have upgraded on Henderson/Milner in the CM role with a player who can actually pass from a deeper role and also add goals,he's scored 98 goals in his career and is only 25.

Sadly Klopp knows what he's doing and has been pretty ruthless getting rid of players or telling them they need to move on while bringing in players who will be adding goals and defensive structure.

Koeman and Walsh need to do the same this summer, starting with the GK and central midfield.

Matip will never adjust to the pace of the league.

Seems like they are signing Wijnaldum, anyone esle think they are confusing Newcatle with Southanpton, Wanyama actually went to Spurs anyway.

Just what they need another suspect and inconsistent attacking midfielder, goons.

Honestly came to join what I thought was going be a "circle jerk of joy."

To be fair they'll have this wrapped up and him standing outside Melwood doing LFC TV interviews before we even announce Steve Walsh

Of course they have. They're making exactly the same mistakes as they've made time & time again for the last 20+ years. They spend huge money on dross.

I read somewhere a startling fact in regards to how much they've spent on Saints players ALONE the other day.

For the so-called, self proclaimed biggest club in Europe, they don't half sign some turds.

And for a team that supposedly isn't one of the "money clubs", they sure spend a lot of money

Hi RAWK :bye:

Wijnaldum and Mane will have their moments (most probably against us) but they do not have the consistency to be top players. Just like Coutinho, Lallana, Firmino, Can, Sturridge etc. they have odd games were they look great then nothing out of them for three games. Then they're all scratching their heads again why they haven't won the league.

yep. all because they're happy to pay £10m and 20,000k a week more than they should be ... again. They take no care in their scattergun approach and again they're getting a player where they've had no competition. Ours are taking long because there does genuinely seem interest from other parties in the players we go for. Also, there is a chance the players are thinking "i could do better" and are waiting around for a better club, but i wouldn't take that in a negative way ... not if they sign for sure. That just means we're punching above our weight so to speak. You don't see mane or wijnaldum waiting around because they feel they could do better, they're thinking "8th place in the prem, i can't do much better than that"

... fully aware mane finished 5th last season with soton btw (y)
