ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

The only consolation I can take from last night is the happy knowledge that they are also crap. The fact that they had to nick it at the death vs this God awful side we have is very telling. A truly despicable club that has tarnished our fine city far to often.

Aye, the one thing I took from last night is the satisfaction that they won't be winning the league

If they play like last night for the rest of the season I doubt they'll even make the top four never mind winning the league. They made really hard work of one of the worst Everton sides in living memory and were lucky to steal a win. They should enjoy it I say because it's likely to be the highlight of their season once they finish sixth.

On a football front, as I've dealt with their behaviour, their team were very impressive last night as was their manager. Where Arsenal succumbed they stood up and got a thoroughly deserved win.

When we were being physical, and lets be honest cowardly in the case of Barkley they didn't allow it to put them off their task. That was not to get sucked into a physical battle, but to keep moving the ball quickly and hitting longer cross field passes to beat the press. They used Clyne very effectively in this. Likewise any retaliation while justified would have risen the crowd more and they avoided allowing them crowd to have any period where it was whipped into a frenzy.

I have never liked Jordan Henderson much as a footballer, or a person. However I have to give him credit last night and in the aftermath. He martialled Barkley easily, so much so Barkley had to go and kick him. He continued to play his game after a horror tackle and set the tempo for them. He could have easily squared up to Barkley when he kicked the ball away and got them both booked and didn't.

In the aftermath he has been very calm and reasonable, referring to Barkley as "a good lad" and accepted his apology. In all honesty I'm not sure I'd have been so gracious. So in the realms of fairness I have to give him a fair bit of credit and revise my opinion of him somewhat.

Yesterday showed the gap in class between the two teams. Both in terms of quality of player but also in length of time they have had a manager there. They are around a year ahead of us and it really shows. They withstood our initial blast, waited until the game slowed then controlled the tempo to suit their superiority. It's a massive win for them, however poor we are we generally do ok at home and it has kept them in touching distance of Chelsea. Anything other than a win and they were probably looking at a bit of a stretch, but this will give them enormous impetus, potentially Gary McAlister style.

While they didn't blitz us with the press last night, and while it was "only Everton" I do think that was one of Klopp's most impressive wins as he showed he had the nouse for a completely different type of game. One where he slowed the pace and passed the ball.

So a big credit where it is due to LFC the team yesterday. I'm sure the reds will have lots of fun saying about how we were gobbing off and got put in our place. I haven't gobbed off anywhere and neither have the majority of Evertonians (every club has a few exceptions). I thought we would be hammered post Watford. Arsenal gave us some hope and with McCarthy on the pitch it was a much closer game. Most Evertonians can see that Liverpool are well in advance of Everton and are a good team.

I'm sure it will find it's way onto RAWK one way or another. You played well and deservedly won looking a really well rounded team to me.

They won't win the league thank god.

But they are going places under Plopp. Meanwhile, we are stood still, signing the likes of Enner Valencia who wouldn't look out of place in the SPL.

Oh yeah and Ashley Williams who just shouts a lot.

Read all of this and agree with pretty much every word. Also thought Henderson was very dignified about the tackle, didn't think he had that in him tbf.

Good post that

I try to ignore them 363 days of the year but the fact of the matter is - right now - not only is the loss making me feel sore and disappointed but that - when you look right through them all you see are a lot of horrible creatures. The fans are the worst imaginable. Insufferable - gloating, small minded, desperate for glory to avoid their almost certain small lives. It starts with the 21 Banner, the Pyro, Steaua scarves, unedifying put downs - fair enough to a degree but I've never seen the same levels from Blues..

I'm still angry so I'm going to try and ignore football for a day or two.. not easy.

They were at their annoying obsessed with us best.
Howeve did find myself humming along to that 'we haven't killed an Italian since 1985' or whatever that ditty was
