Of course this is the whole problem. Their stupid supporters cause mayhem all over Europe without a care that it reflects on our city. This is because most of them don't come from there. I seriously believe that they are violent and mentally ill.

Looks like a lot of logo's around the city will have to be changed then, cos you can bet your bottom dollar that they'll drag anyone they can through the courts for using it.
Imagine how much all the rebranding will cost as well.
Reading a few things, if anyone has a claim to the emblem then it is Royal Liver Insurance, the fact that it wasn't trademarked back in 18 something shouldnt come into it really, it was their emblem that the city adopted. Maybe they should seek to overturn the decision and then allow the city to use it... or anyone apart from Shobgite FC

The thing that really gets me about all the comments below, is that they see them getting the copyright on the City's emblem, as getting one over on us. Yet we're the bitter ones? I can almost smell the irony.
It is clearly the emblem of the city. the fact that the story goes, "if the Liverbirds should fall, so shall the city", should kinda prove that. If that only applied to LFC, the birds would of been down years ago.

Sadly trademark's are everything.. Brian Gould the KEIOC treasurer is testament to that.
You would expect a symbol like the bird though to be above copyright, no one associates it with LFC its part of Liverpool.. another day, another story of a lack of common sense in the courts.

Liverpool had a goal ruled out for offside. We had a goal ruled out against Newcastle, had an unfair sending off against QPR, and were all over Fulham for the entire game.
Even if you discount the Fulham game we'd still be 7 points clear using the 'if liverpool had won' logic.
