I think the summer just gone pretty much displays what Liverpool have become now. Liverpool fans at the time spoke about Klopp signing his players to play his tactics. It worked, or it seemed to work by November. Now the summer just gone stinks of lack of investment, signing budget players rather than first choice and they have essentially tried to ride off the back of what Klopp could do despite the tools given to him. In all honesty here, who was their last big signing? Like really big? Suarez was not a big signing by any stretch of the imagination at the time, just another striker brought in. Would it be torres? My memory is a little light on this front so please excuse me, but i cannot think of another player since torres that genuinely was a big signing for the club.
the problem liverpool have now is that if they do not reach top 4 this season and do not back Klopp in the transfer market, not to mention any of their only half decent players decides they want to go then potentially Klopp could walk, and then what? They have put all their eggs into the Klopp basket and if they had actually backed him financially then perhaps they would have got out of jail with it all. As
@catcherintherye excellently put, what now for them? they are us, under Moyes, in all but name. Signing cast offs and negative net spends whilst keeping above and around the europa league places. Except the difference between us and them is that they looked down on us doing that, and blindly cannot see they have become it themselves.
I hope this time next year, we can look down on them and just laugh.
