Optimism you say?? We sacked one for taking us to 2 s/finals, both of which we unfortunately to the winners.

Sacked!!! Ran out of town cause his performance was unacceptable.

You said it mate. SEMI finals. I even remember a fair bit of optimism for getting to the Semis, performances had become in unacceptable, league position will tell you that. Klopp took them to 2 Finals in his 1st season, and has improved them this season, who'd have thought they'd have a chance of top 4 pre season? remember the optimism when Bobby finished 5th in his 1st season? We gave him an enormous mural on the ground! Only for us to go down the pan. He was rightly sacked. Not a good comparison really.

The thing about the second semi final, by the time it came around all excitement was gone and optimism non existent.

I have never traveled to a game at Wembley where Evertonians were so low key about our prospects.

I heard people saying its win win ahead of the United semi final which i thought was totally wrong.. Happy to lose as it nudged Roberto closer to the exit door

Yes, I could never have echoed that sentiment.

Roberto was going no matter what happened in the Cup IMO.

Nobody should ever be happy at a loss, particularly in a cup semi-final.

The only acceptable loss scenario would be if it meant the RS got relegated ;)
That would warrant a street party all around Goodison.
