So we bid 50m last summer and got it turned down. According to that article Chelsea bid 53m and got it turned down last week. So now Liverpool allegedly bid 36m and surprise surprise got it turned down. There seems a lot of penny pinching going on at our neighbours, you only have to look at the stalemate regarding the bid for salah because they won't.meet the asking price.

IMG_3675.webp Shanks said football is more important than life and death... so I starved the family and bought a season ticket. YNWA.

I've found proof that there really are toilets at The Pit. Next time I go I'll have to see if I locate them deep in the bowels of the Anfield Road end.

so they are after Koulibaly

we bid 50m - got turned down
Chelsea bid 53m - got turned down
they come in and try to bid 36m - hmmm sounds very like our shearer bid years ago really

Oh and as for the tempting wages they are offering - 54k pw, when they have just signed Lovren to a 100k pw contract extension

A sceptical person would think that they actually are deliberately trying to not sign players so as not to spend
A further sceptical view would be - they are not spending money because they have a very limited budget unless and until they sell someone to Barcelona like Coutinho...

The reports about them leaking the VVD stuff to drive the price right down seem more and more genuine, unless ofc they wanted what happened to happen all along so they had a reason they could pull out without it looking like it was purely because they couldn't afford to buy him...

My God, what a cunning mob they are. Machiavelli would be proud. Can't lie straight in bed, that lot.

Been an Evertonian long enough to spot a fake bid designed to dupe the fans mate ;)

The VVD thing - they where never ever gonna pay what was needed to get him, so pulled that crap to wreck the deal. Because they couldn't actually afford him

Koulibaly - obviously not any genuine bid for the player - an absurd offer considering the situation

Keita - loads of talk about him then his valuation was leaked out to the media and sicne then not a single word about 'their number one priority)

Salah - messing around on the bid for an insane period of time, given that Roma have to sell and raise 40m to comply to FFP - this was a very very easy deal to sort for them, instead they are delaying it as much as the possible can do, all that gives is the chance for someone else to come in for the player or alternatively a chance for another Roma player to be sold instead (say Manolas) who would raise the 40m needed and then remove any need for Roma to sell Salah, Roma pull out the rs say they tried but Roma didn't want to sell in the end etc

At the end of the summer - look at who they stated where priority targets for them and who they end up getting and IF those other players did end up moving elsewhere and for how much and it will tell a ,lot about FSG and their real ambitions and willingness to spend

So far - fingers crossed and all that - the RS Summer feels just like every one of the last 28* or so we've endured.

Rs close to signing salah

Rs close to signing salah

Aye mate and after about 3 weeks of negotiating, with the starting positions of the rs bidding 28m and Roma demanding 40m, Dominic King has written the following about the deal

Michael Edwards, Liverpool's sporting director, has continued in negotiations with Monchi, his counterpart in Rome, and a deal has now been structured that with add-ons, will see Liverpool pay more than the £35m they invested in Andy Carroll in January 2011. The final fee may be closer to £40m

So basically they have caved in and Roma got exactly what they wanted from them.

Not actually that bothered either way with Salah, the rs are banging on about how great he's been in Italy etc, seem to remember Aqualani getting hailed as brilliant and for spurs Lamela getting raved about, both flopped pretty much.

As for Salah, prefer to look at how he fared last time he played here, he badly flopped at Chelsea so who knows if he can actually adapt this time

Salah and Mane will be a pain with there pace

I'm hoping they don't sort that defence out as there front 4 is very good

Sad to say but that is a brilliant signing by them as it adds morepace and goals,i said a few weeks ago he was a chelsea flop but a few people on here said now way,his goal/assists record is pretty good, but i'm not so sure if that's from Serie A being more an attacking open league than the defensive league it used to be.

He only played 530 mins for Chelsea and look at the other talent Mourinho let go in that time frame in De Bruyne and Lakaku and both have been brilliant post chelsea, all 3 left Chelsea at 20-21 because Mourinho didn't trust them being so young.

I'm guessing they have their replacement for Coutinho now for the left side,i cannot expect they will keep him after such a outlay with the financial woes they have.

He didn't get a fair go at Chelsea

Liverpool like to attack so it will suit him, they will be ruthless on the break
