ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Such a strange way of thinking. Juventus made the Champions League final last season, comfortably beating Barcelona and Monaco along the way, and only won the league over Roma by four points, with Napoli a further two points back. There are plenty of players in the Italian league that I would love us to buy and I'm sure we wouldn't say stuff like this if Koulibaly etc. joined.

Again, weird thinking. Neither Roma nor Lyon were battered. In fact, both ties finished 5-4 on aggregate. Roma beat Lyon 2-1 and Lyon beat Ajax 3-1 so you could just as well argue that Salah played in a side that beat a team that battered a team Klaassen was captaining. Good job football doesn't work like that though and I'm sure Klaassen will prove to be a great buy.

Juventus were outclassed in the final. I think that was maybe a truer reflection of their standing in Europe. A couple of good performances to get that far but that happens in cup competitions. Napoli came 3rd (only 5 points behind Juventus) and were just dismantled in both ties against Madrid. It was truly embarrassing, and further evidence of how bad the league is these days.

The Lyon home leg was flattering to the French side in all honesty. Got a fairly soft penalty after Ajax were comfortable then caught Ajax napping at start of second half.

Ajax were easily the better side overall and I think the 4-1 in Amsterdam underlines their superiority.

Inter finished bottom of a group that contained heavyweights like Southampton and Sparta Prague.

Nobody can realistically argue it's a good league anymore. Salah might be good but he's flopped here before so no reason to think he's going to do anything of note this time round.

Klassen on the other hand looks like quality and should be an excellent signing. Over £10m cheaper than Salah.... it's crazy if you think about it.

I'm sorry but you're looking at it in a very blinkered way.

Juventus were outclassed in the final but completely dominated Barcelona over 180 minutes before that whilst not conceding a goal. That wasn't a false reflection and it wasn't a fluke. They also were arguably the better team in the first half in the final but Zidane made a tactical switch at half-time and Juventus couldn't cope with it. What you're saying is basically the equivalent of me saying that La Liga is rubbish because "Barcelona came second (only 3 points behind Real Madrid) and were just dismantled in both ties against Juventus. It was truly embarrassing. They couldn't even score a goal".

Ajax were dismantled in a final against the sixth best English team. Nobody is saying that Klaassen (not Klassen) is a bad signing because of that. Teams lose matches. Good players play in under-performing teams. It doesn't mean anything. Football doesn't work in a way whereby A can beat C so must be better than B because B lost to C. It's not horse racing.

You say the Italian league is bad, but its better than the Dutch league. Nobody could argue against that. Napoli got battered by Madrid, but so would 99% of teams, regardless of what league they play in. Inter Milan rested players for a lot of their Europa League matches but they also finished seventh in Serie A. They are just very average. In fact, they are probably akin to Southampton (the eighth best English team), as shown by beating them at home and losing to them away.

Let me ask you, how would you react if we signed Koulibaly? Or Mertens? Or Keita Balde?

Barcelona drew the second leg. So um what are you on about?

Thing is people ARE saying that about Klaassen. Usually RS who are famed for their lack of knowledge and inability to assess players but they're still saying it.

I wouldn't want you to sign Koulibaly as that would address the glaring weakness in your squad.
Mertens, I think you're covered.
Balde, just doesn't get enough goals so wouldn't care if you signed him.

Sorry, I didn't think we had to take into account both legs, given your previous comments below:

Some RS are trying to have a go at klaassen but he was captain of the side that battered the side that battered Roma.

I think it's fair to say that Juventus handled their second legs better than Ajax did.

I haven't seen anyone say anything negative about Klaassen coming from the Dutch league but apologies if I've missed it. It's rather ironic that you are criticising people for saying it though, whilst you're doing the exact same thing about players from the Italian league.

Hilarious.

Hilarious.

1. You said both ties. Are you ok, you might need a lie down.
2. Erm ok.
3. Apologies accepted.
4. Thank you.

And you said that Klaassen captained a team that battered Lyon whilst ignoring the fact that he also captained a team that got battered by Lyon (I'm assuming 3-1 constitutes a battering given that you said Lyon battered Roma, when the score was 3-1).

Your whole argument is the most nonsensical, delusional, blinkered thing I've ever seen.

I actually think both Klaassen and Salah will prove to be good signings and fill major holes in both our's and Liverpool's squad, I'm just fed up of your constant drivel. It's embarrassing to read.

klassen wasn't playing in the lyon ajax match mate

There's 3-1 and there's 3-1. Lyon were flattered by their 3-1.

What hole is Salah filling in your squad? Seems a panic buy to me. Saw us splashing the cash and you were feeling left out. Salah will struggle big time, just not got the minerals for this league imho.

I can only presume you didn't watch either match because Lyon absolutely battered Ajax from around the 30th minute onward in the second leg.

If you want to continue thinking I'm a Liverpool fan because I'm not unhealthily delusional, that's fine, but I won't be responding to those comments.

The tie was already over from the first leg, it was that easy and that as how it proved, they won that semi in Amsterdam.
