Did they, on paper at any rate, draw the weakest team from each of the other three pots?
This is unprecedented good fortune, even by their standards of jamminess.
7 of 7 possible opponents in Pot 1, 5th of 6 possible in Pot 2 and 6th of 8 possible in Pot 3.. and this from only the 6th best team in Pot 3 (and only the 21st best of the 32 teams in the competition)
Not forgetting that: 1) all their possible rivals for the CL Qualifying Round that might have left them unseeded all melted away -e.g. Dortmund won, Roma won, one of the Moscow teams won and some other side won their title (I forget) all denying them the possibility of drawing one of those sides - and then.. 2) a tie against a novice German side with no previous CL experience and, naturally, the 2nd leg at The Pit..
